After registering her name at the Silverleaf Pack’s gate, Shirley followed the address on her phone to the Green Residence.

Sure, she could’ve slipped past patrols with a simple disguise and walked right into the center of the pack. But she didn’t want to cause trouble for Thora, so she behaved and signed in properly.

When she reached the villa, she straightened her clothes and rang the doorbell.

A moment later, Judy Carroll, the housekeeper, opened the door. She saw a cute girl standing outside in an Astralis College uniform and asked kindly, “Hello, how can I help you?”

Shirley gave her a sweet smile. “I’m looking for Thora. Is she home?”

“I’m sorry, Ms. Thora hasn’t returned yet.”

“That’s not true. She has been kicked out of the house. Hazel’s sharp voice cut in as she walked out from the house.

Shirley frowned. “Kicked out?”

Hazel looked Shirley up and down.

She’d never seen this girl before, but she had that kind of soft, pretty face that boys always liked at first sight.

Hazel’s tone grew even sharper at this. “That’s right. Thora was thrown qut of the house. That bitch is gone for good. She’s a disgrace-no respect, no manners, no heart, just a mean, useless troublemaker. Why would we keep trash like that in this house?”

A spark of killing intent flashed under Shirley’s eyes, but she forced it down.

No. Can’t kill anyone.

I just got out of the prison. If I go back in, I won’t see Thora for a long time.

Hazel suddenly felt a chill. Shirley’s eyes scared her more than she expected. She barked, trying to mask her fear, “Anyone who hangs around her must be bad news too! Sluts like you always pretend to be cute when flirting with guys. Do you think I don’t know your type? Judy! Kick her out!”

Judy was torn.

Hazel’s words were far too harsh. This little girl was so polite and sweet.

“Young lady, maybe you should head back,” Judy said gently.

Shirley sneered coldly inside, but her voice was honey-sweet. “You know? Everything you just said sounds a lot more fitting for yourself.”

“You bitch! How dare you talk back!”

Hazel had been defeated by Thora over and over. Now, she took all that anger out on this stranger who knew Thora.

She gathered her wolf strength, veins showing on her wrist, and tried to slap Shirley across the face.

But Shirley simply tilted her head, easily dodging the hit.

“Well, since Thora’s not here, I’ll be going.” She waved cheerfully and turned away.

Neither Judy nor Hazel saw the wicked little smile curling at the corner of her lips the moment she turned around.

Thora was almost back at the villa when she caught a familiar shape in her rearview mirror. Someone was curled up at the corner of a narrow alley.

She turned the wheel, backed up, and stopped right beside the alley entrance.

Her long strides carried her in quickly.

A few steps later, she spotted a girl sitting on the ground, knees hugged to her chest, looking up with wide, innocent eyes.

Thora crouched down a little. “I thought I was seeing things,” she said with a small smile.

Shirley stared at her for a long time. Then, she suddenly lit up, jumped to her feet, and threw both arms around Thora’s neck.

“Ahhhh! Thora! You’re back!”

Thora wasn’t ready for that. Her body dipped from the sudden weight. She grabbed Shirley out of reflex. The girl hung off her like a heavy backpack, nearly pulling her off balance.

When Thora straightened up, Shirley was hanging in midair.

Thora’s mouth twitched. Why is this kid acting like a little monkey?

“Get down,” she said with a frown.

Shirley dropped to the ground, grinning happily like she hadn’t noticed Thora’s cold expression at all.

“What are you doing here?” Thora asked.

“I came to see you,” Shirley replied like it was obvious.

Thora blinked. “I heard the military took you away.”

Darius told her Shirley got taken in for breaking the weapons ban. And from his tone, it sounded serious.

That was why Thora had included Shirley in the name list; she wanted the military to ease up.
