Darius arched a brow but made no move to get up from the couch. He just sprawled there, looking at Thora with relaxed amusement.
“I suddenly feel like there’s too much distance between us. Why don’t you put your legs on my lap?” He spoke with perfect seriousness.
“Is that so?”
As Thora answered, she lifted a leg and rolled her ankle, the joints cracking so loudly it sounded like she could snap bones with one kick.
Darius swallowed. The Alpha in him itched to pull her into his arms, but he held back-he knew Thora never responded well to force.
He quickly sat up straighter, composing himself and turning on the charm. “Thora, do you know what our relationship is?”
Thora thought for a moment and replied sincerely, “Mate.”
Darius’s subtle influence had already shaped her view—she had accepted the fact that they were bonded.
“So, have you ever seen mates living apart?” Darius’s tone darkened, and for a moment, he looked genuinely wronged.
Thora kept her expression neutral. “What are you getting at?”
At that moment, Carl’s voice floated up from downstairs. “Alpha! All your stuff has been moved
in!”
Darius shrugged. “That’s what I mean.”
“You’re moving in?” Thora’s voice rose.
“What, are you happy about it too?” Darius raised a brow.
Thora fell silent for a second, then nodded in all seriousness. “Good timing. I’ll be away for a while soon, so you can watch the house.”
Darius was stunned into silence. Does she see me as her guard dog now?
“Away?” Darius’s eyes narrowed as something clicked. “Are you going to Blue Star Military Academy?”

He had already heard from Hugo about the academy’s entrance exam-just a month away.
Thora was a little surprised by how quickly he got the news, but then remembered who he was and nodded. “That’s right.”
Darius’s face fell. His features hardened with cold disappointment. “Thora, are you planning to leave me here all alone?”
Almost on reflex, Thora answered, “Two years.”
Hearing that, Darius was even more thrilled than if he’d expanded his territory or landed a billion-dollar deal.
Thora had always done things her way. For her, those two words were a rare show of promise- a promise meant just for him.
Inside, he was over the moon, but outwardly, he put on a sad, lonely front. “Another two years…”
Thora’s eyes flickered. “Two years is the fastest graduation time at Blue Star Military Academy.”
Darius let out a soft sigh, his gaze full of quiet longing.
No one brought up the agreement they’d made long ago-if Thora wanted out after three years, Darius would let her go.
Darius would never mention it, and Thora had completely forgotten about it.
After all, being out there for two years, she would always use Darius’s card whenever she ran short on cash.
She figured staying mates with him wasn’t such a bad deal.
So she’d let the old agreement slip her mind.
“Thora, tell me… what if I get lonely and start seeing someone else in the next two years?” Darius asked with a teasing smile.
Thora didn’t even pause before answering coldly, “Then you’ll die a miserable death.”
Darius immediately grinned at her, unable to stop laughing.
