The Apocalyptic Queen's Werewolf Journey (Thora and Darius) novel Chapter 228

Chapter 228 A Soldier’s Honor

“Ashton is already 18. As an adult, he has the full right to make his own decisions. Since he chose to stay in the service, you have no legal grounds to interfere.”

Thora admitted that Ashton had made mistakes before. A mature young man should always give his family an explanation. That was why she told him to apologize.

But she also knew how to separate one issue from another.

“You…” Wendy’s face darkened with anger. She was about to argue back, but Thora cut her off with her next words.

Thora stared at Wendy and said firmly, “Ashton was specially recruited by the military. He’s part of one of the top elite units in the Empire. In the past two years, he has earned remarkable honors. Every badge on his shoulder was earned through blood and sweat. Yet you want him to give up the honor he risks his life to protect. Do you really understand your own son? Do you understand his dreams? Do you understand the beliefs he protects with his life?”

Thora’s words struck like a thunderclap.

Wendy froze.

Ashton pressed his lips together and instinctively placed his hands on his shoulder badges.

It was the first time he truly felt the weight of “a soldier’s honor.”

Wendy suddenly stood and said in a sharp, commanding tone, “If you refuse to release him, I’ll contact members of Congress and the media right now. I’ll make sure the public sees how the Empire’s army supposedly forces soldiers to stay and ignores their families’ wishes!”

“Mom!” Ashton didn’t expect Wendy to push things this far. His face changed at once.

Thora calmly lifted her hand in a casual, dismissive wave. Her tone was icy. “Go ahead.”

Harvey and Ashton didn’t even know what to say.

Thora really did like using bold moves.

Wendy was stunned again.

She thought political pressure and public opinion would frighten Thora-but it didn’t work at

all.

“He’s

my child. I just want him to have a safer future. The battlefield is not where he belongs,” Wendy argued stubbornly.

Thora lifted a brow. “Mrs. Smith, you’re confusing ‘motherly love’ with ‘control. In the Empire’s law, an adult’s future belongs only to himself. A soldier’s identity is an honor. From the moment Ashton put on that uniform, he carried responsibilities and beliefs more precious than his own life.”

She didn’t want to waste more time, so her tone turned cold. “Let me be direct. If Ashton doesn’t agree to leave the service, then he can’t be discharged. But if you continue to interfere with official duties…”

A cold smile tugged at Thora’s lips. “I’ll have no choice but to send you to military prison for obstructing the Empire’s military operations.”

Harvey sucked in a sharp breath.

Thora was being absolutely ruthless.

“You have no right to do that!”

Wendy looked tough on the outside, but deep down she was timid. “I’ll call my legal team and people from the Congress. Do you really think a Major General can break the law and abuse her power?”

Thora tapped her metal pen against the table and replied in a cold voice, “Go ahead. The Empire’s laws and the army’s authority will give you your answer. And let me remind you— threatening a senior military officer carries a very serious charge.”
