“Thora, let’s jump,” Darius said, completely calm as he reached out and took her hand, not the least bit worried about their lives.

Thora glanced at her car, which was still parked on the deck.

She gripped Darius’s hand tightly and said, “Get in.” Without hesitation, she pulled him toward the car.

Darius didn’t hesitate for a second and followed Thora inside.

But his eyes never once left her face.

Thora started the engine, just like the first time they met. Then, she said in a low voice, “Hold on.”

Darius did as told, grabbing the handle tightly. His brow arched this scene felt way too familiar.

He remembered the first time they met. He was in the passenger seat, she was driving, and she told him to hold on.

Two years had flown by since then. The girl who caught his eye from the start was now his mate.

“Thora, if we die together today, do you think that makes us real soulmates?” Even in this crazy moment, Darius couldn’t resist teasing her.

“Shut up.”

Darius grinned. Thora was still adorable when she was mad.

Thora floored the gas. The car shot backward, and she shifted gears in a blur.

Sparks lit up as the tires screeched across the deck, the sound grating on everyone’s nerves.

Carl’s eyes widened. He realized what Thora was about to do and barked into his radio, “Move the yacht to catch them where the car’s going to hit the water! Hurry, or it’ll be too late!”

Just then, the car launched off the deck.

Boom!

The instant the car flew off, another explosion tore through the ship.

The blast wave sent the car spinning into the air.

Everyone’s breath caught.

Their hearts pounded so hard, it felt as though they might burst.

Thora yanked the steering wheel hard. The car spun in the air, sparks trailing as the wheels scraped against nothing but air.

Using the drag from the spinning wheels and the wind, she managed to steady the car in midair.

A second later, the car plunged downward, landing hard.

Carl’s nerves twisted right along with the spinning car. When it finally landed on the yacht’s sunroof, he let out a breath he didn’t realize he’d been holding.

It was a close call-so close, he thought he might stop breathing. One second more, and it could’ve all been

over.

Thora slammed on the brakes. But the car kept sliding from the force, wheels still spinning.

The tires screeched, then finally came to a stop.

Thora let out a breath, glanced in the rearview at the sinking ship, and was about to say something-

“Thora.”

She instinctively turned, and before she knew it, something cool and soft pressed against her lips.

Darius’s hand wrapped around the back of her neck. His kiss was fierce and wild, stealing her breath.

His Thora had risked missing her shot at Blue Star Military Academy just to save him.

How could he not love her more?

Thora frowned, but grabbed Darius by the collar and yanked him closer, taking the lead and kissing him back. It was a rough and wild kiss, with her venting all her anger and fear.

Even if she didn’t fully understand love, she knew what she felt deep down.

After finding out that Darius had been drugged and held hostage, then waiting endlessly without seeing him, she’d been terrified for him.

But she was furious, too-furious he’d been so reckless with his life.

He could’ve gotten away, but he kept putting himself in danger.

If she hadn’t made it in time, and Elliott had lost all reason and used the ship’s heavy weapons against him, there would have been nothing left of him.

Fueled by fear and anger, her kiss only deepened.

She knew she could never let Darius go, not in this lifetime.

Their kiss turned scorching, heating up the air around them.

Carl hurried aboard, and the moment he saw what was happening, everyone wisely turned away.

They all took a few steps back, giving the two their privacy.

When it was over, Thora shoved Darius away.
