Tristan noticed it too and gave a small nod.

Everyone became alert right away, even though they kept chatting and smiling like nothing was wrong.

During the two years they had followed Thora on missions around the world, they had learned one basic skill above all else-fit in and stay unnoticed.

In the crowd, a man wearing a half-silver mask pulled his gaze away from Thora and curved his lips into a faint smile. He turned and vanished into the crowd.

When Thora looked again, she only caught a glimpse of a long leg stepping away before the figure vanished in the blink of an eye.

“Thora?” Shirley tilted her head up. When Thora didn’t answer, Shirley followed the direction of her stare, but she saw nothing.

Am I imagining things?

Impossible. Anyone else might miss something, but her “Hawk Eye” never failed.

She insisted, “Thora, what are you staring at?”

Thora looked away and shook her head. “Nothing.”

Maybe it was just her imagination. Still, the feeling seemed strangely familiar.

“Hey, guys. Want to buy some inside information?”

A voice suddenly appeared right beside them, making everyone jump. The man moved quietly, like a snake, showing up without a sound.

He looked to be in his early twenties, with shifty eyes and a sneaky look. He didn’t look like someone here to take a military academy entrance test.

Ashton raised an eyebrow and played along. “What kind of info?”

The man glanced around and lowered his voice. “I’ve got the test questions for Blue Star Military Academy, along with details about this year’s chief examiner. But…” He rubbed his fingers together in a money gesture, clearly asking for money.

Tristan scoffed and exchanged a glance with Thora.

Thora’s expression didn’t change, but her eyes turned cold.

“Who are you? And how could you know such classified things?” Tristan asked, his tone icy.

The man looked around again and spoke carefully, “That’s none of your business. I come here every year. I know this place inside out. Whatever you want to know, I can find it.” He even patted his chest, full of confidence.

The moment he finished speaking, a tall and beautiful woman walked up and kicked him hard to the

ground.

“What a disgusting rat,” she muttered under her breath.

The man tried to stand and strike back, but a thin needle shot from her palm and pierced his body.

His body shook, and all his strength drained away. With no power left to resist, he scrambled into the crowd like a frightened rat running for its life.

Thora and the others stayed where they were. They only watched quietly.

Shirley felt a prickle of unease at the sudden attack and moved closer to Thora without thinking.

The woman looked straight at Thora first. It was clear Thora had caught her full attention.

She ignored everyone else and walked right up to Thora.

She was very tall, about a head taller than Thora. She wore a sharp military uniform with black combat boots, her build long, strong, and fit.

Her long, blue hair brushed her shoulders, and her eyes were the same blue. Her features were striking, like a mixed-blood Eastern and Western werewolf bloodline. She looked no older than 25.

That was Thora’s first thought about her.

The second was this-something about the woman felt strangely familiar.
