He remembered what had happened before he lost consciousness. His expression changed, and his mind cleared instantly.
He quickly contacted the Blackwoods of the Nightclaw Pack.
“Hello, Evelyn.”
“Hello? Oh, Yercah, what’s got you calling me?” Evelyn recognized his voice right away, warm and gentle.
Yercah didn’t have time for small talk. He spoke sharply. “Evelyn… He’s back.”
Evelyn’s voice froze for a moment. “What did you just say?”
Preston noticed the sudden change in Evelyn’s tone and looked over.
“When did this happen?” Evelyn asked in a serious tone.
Yereah replied calmly, “Just yesterday. Darius asked me for help. He had been using that person’s ability frequently and noticed the seal was weakening. Darius wanted to use my power to keep that person asleep. But halfway through, the person broke the seal and knocked me out. By the time I woke up, he was gone…”
Evelyn gripped her phone tightly and stepped back without realizing it.
If Darius hadn’t held her by the waist, she would have bumped into the coffee table.
After hanging up, the calm on Evelyn’s face disappeared, panic showing clearly. “Honey… that kid is back…”
“I know,” Preston said softly, trying to calm her. “No matter what, he is still our child.”
Evelyn’s fingers went pale. Her voice grew heavy. “Yercah said that kid can sense Darius. He’s after the person Darius cares about-Thora. He’s probably heading to Blue Star Military Academy. If he touches Thora, Darius will go all out.”
Preston’s face turned serious. He could only try to soothe her. “They’ve been keeping the peace for years. He shouldn’t go too far.”
He paused for a moment, then added, “I looked at Thora’s file. That girl isn’t weak. Even Darius listens to her. That kid might not get what he wants.”
Evelyn didn’t say anything-she just nodded. That was all she could do to comfort herself, but it didn’t case her worry one bit.
Or perhaps she had always known that this day would come eventually,
Eventually, the two of them would end up fighting over something precious, sooner or later—no matter what it really was.

In the misty jungle, Ashley’s blue eyes flickered with surprise when she heard the masked man’s request. She relaxed her stance and stopped her attack.
She looked at her arm, noticing a layer of goosebumps that had appeared without her realizing it.
Then she looked at the masked man again, her eyes darkening with thought.
Thora didn’t refuse. “Okay,” she said. Her eyes briefly scanned the tag at the man’s waist.
Every candidate had a number tag on their waist. His number was 79.
With candidate Number 79 and Ashley following for no clear reason, Thora kept searching for Luke Leacock.
She knew Luke’s aura and breathing so well that she could sense him instantly. Using her mental energy, she could locate him quickly as long as he was nearby.
Suddenly, Thora’s eyes darted in a new direction, her expression changing.
“Thora, there’s someone over there. Looks like your friend, right?” Ashley had barely spoken before Thora was already striding off.
“Seems like I don’t even need to say anything,” Ashley muttered with a shrug.
She followed, keeping more distance from the masked man behind them.
She didn’t want to be near him. He made her feel like she could die at any second.
Number 79 walked behind at a steady pace, his eyes locked on Thora’s back.
Meanwhile, Luke was pinned to the ground by an assassin. The tip of a dagger was almost touching his heart.
He grabbed the attacker’s wrist with both hands. “Hey, we’ve got no problems. Why are you trying to kill me?!”
Luke was frustrated. He had just fallen behind his team, and these two had set him up.
It was obvious that these two were killers hiding among the candidates, hired by some of them to take out others and grab their spots to advance.
“You look weak-easy target,” one of them said, blunt and harsh.
“Hahaha!” the other laughed, making fun of him.
