Chapter 292 Danger
Thora glanced down and saw a vine as thick as her wrist wrapped tight around her ankle.
Her brows knit tightly.
It was one of the jungle’s deadliest plants-ground strangler vines!
She pulled out her combat knife, ready to slice it apart.

But the moment the blade left its sheath, the vines hidden beneath the ground suddenly shot up like giant
serpents!
Swish! Swish! Swish!
In a blink, vines coiled around her body. Even her wrists were trapped, making it impossible to swing the knife.
“Damn it,” Thora cursed softly. She was bound up tight, like livestock, unable to move at all.
She’d messed up-she never expected ground strangler vines to be hiding here.
“Thora, let me take over!”
Thora was just about to let Amie force their way out when things went wrong again.
Something jerked her forward, like a demon’s claw dragging her away.
It was insanely fast. Before she could fully shift into wolf form, a cold chill spread beneath her feet.
Then her body started sinking. A strong pull dragged her deeper into the mud.
At the same time, as if scared of being pulled in as well, the vines instantly loosened, pulling back and disappearing underground.
Thora bit her lip. As she sank and took in her surroundings, her heart sank.
“Damn-it’s a swamp!” Amie stopped taking over. “If we transform here, we’ll sink even faster.”
Thora’s expression darkened completely. The white wolf fur that had just started to show quickly faded.
The ground strangler vines had dragged her into a swamp. Worse, it was an area with no solid footing at all.
It was the swamp zone of the area. If she hadn’t fallen in, there would’ve been no sign it was even there.
Worse still, it was a blind spot in the academy’s surveillance.
After landing, Thora had noticed monitoring devices scattered through the forest, letting the academy track everyone live.
Unfortunately, her current spot was just outside their range.
Thora spread her arms, trying to lie back and increase her surface area, hoping to slowly work herself free.

It didn’t help. The suction below was terrifyingly strong. In just a couple of minutes, she had sunk much deeper.
At the same time, her struggle was seen by Ashley nearby.
Leaning against a large tree, Ashley hid in the shadows, her blue eyes filled with hesitation.
Save her or not?
She shut her eyes briefly, thinking it over. When she opened them, a coin rested between her fingers.
The old trick-let luck decide. Heads, she helped. Tails, she walked away.
Å faint smile touched her lips as she flicked the coin into the air.
It dropped back into her hand. She covered it, then slowly opened her hand.
Her gaze hardened, and her smile vanished.
The result was decided.
She looked once more at Thora, still sinking in the swamp, then turned and left. Her long legs soon disappeared into the jungle.
All she could do now was wish her luck.
Thora kept sinking.
Thick mud clung to her body, locking her in place so she couldn’t move at all.
Her eyes darkened, but her face stayed calm as she quickly scanned around, searching for anything she could use to escape.
But the sinking was clearly speeding up.
“Need some help?”
A man’s voice suddenly broke the silence.
Thora looked toward the sound. A tall figure jumped down from a tree and walked step by step to the edge of the swamp.
The silver mask stood out sharply in the dim jungle.
With his hands in his pockets, he moved like he was taking a casual walk.
Thora glanced at him once, then looked away, still searching for something useful nearby.
“So close to death, and you’re still this calm?” Draven said, sounding amused.
