At this point, Sergio had already begun urging everyone to board. The only ones still standing on the beach were Thora and her group.

Ashton’s brows were tightly drawn. The image of Ashley’s ambush flashed through his mind.

His gaze darted as he leaned closer to Thora. “Boss.”

Thora understood at once and bent slightly toward him.

Lowering his voice, Ashton whispered a few sentences into her ear. As he spoke, he shot a glance at Ashley and deliberately shielded his mouth, careful not to let anyone read his lips.

Tristan, Harvey, and the others had no idea what he said.

When he finished, Ashton stepped back, looked once at Thora, then turned his eyes to Ashley, who was slowly approaching.

“I got it,” Thora said calmly, her gaze fixed on Ashley as she replied to Ashton.

Ashton nodded. He exchanged a look with Harvey, then spoke with quiet resolve. “Boss, take care of yourself. It’s a shame, but we don’t regret it. Two years from now, we’ll be waiting for you to come back.”

Tristan, despite past friction with Ashton, respected his grit. He stepped forward and bumped shoulders with him.

“Protect Boss,” Ashton said.

“Always,” Tristan replied.

Harvey also said his goodbyes, confidence clear in his voice. “Don’t worry. When you come back in two years, we’ll have a surprise waiting for you.”

Just as Thora had said before-whether it was Alger and the others who stayed behind because of age limits, or Dominic, Harvey, and Ashton who were eliminated during the exams-everyone had their own path ahead.

Wolffang never stopped moving. Even separated, the bond and the soldier’s spirit remained.

And as for the long-silent “Ashwolf,” Thora had no intention of letting it fade into nothing.

She smiled faintly and let out a single, steady word. “Alright.”

There was no trace of defeat in them-only anticipation, only the resolve to start again.

After the farewells, Thora’s group turned toward the ship. At that exact moment, Ashley walked over.

“Thora.” Ashley greeted her first.

Thora paused. “You go on ahead. I’ll be right there.”

Tristan, Ryan, and the others looked at Thora, their eyes full of wariness and unspoken warning toward

Ashley. Still, they followed orders and boarded the ship first.

Ashley stepped closer to Thora. Her blue eyes flicked lightly as she smiled, a hint of flirtation in her tone. “Thora, you’re not mad just because I eliminated two of your friends… right?”

She admitted it outright, her voice playful, almost coquettish.

“No. I’m not angry.” Thora glanced at her, her voice cool and flat.

“Really?” Ashley let out a relieved breath and laughed. “That’s good. I didn’t do it on purpose, you know. It’s a competition-no room for sentiment. Still…” Her smile deepened. “If it were you, I might’ve made an exception.”

Ashley was tall, half a head taller than Thora. Her combat uniform hugged a powerful, athletic frame, all clean lines and coiled strength.

Even with that teasing tone, no one would mistake her for soft-or weak. That was the impression Thora had formed after their brief encounters.

Ashton’s and Harvey’s expressions turned icy as they stared at Ashley.

Thora didn’t even change her tone. “It’s a competition. They weren’t strong enough.”

With that, she gave Ashton and Harvey a brief look, nodded once, and then turned and walked away.

Ashley’s blue eyes narrowed slightly. She glanced back at Ashton and Harvey, a flash of cold passing through her gaze.

She lifted her left wrist, revealing a fresh knife cut. Beneath it lay a long, healed scar-left behind during her clash with the two of them.

But it wasn’t the wound she cared about. Below it was a totem tattoo.

Ashley’s eyes sharpened. She watched Thora’s retreating figure, the corner of her lips curving into a knowing, unreadable smile. Then she turned and followed her onto the ship.

Sergio’s gaze had been on Thora the entire time. The moment she stepped aboard, he took a step forward. “Congratulations.”

A personal word from an examiner-something no other candidate received.

Around them, more than a few candidates felt a surge of envy.

Calm under praise, steady under pressure. That composure-far beyond her age-pleased Sergio greatly.

No wonder she was the candidate he valued most this round.
