Chapter 329 Apocalypse
“A game?” The candidates exchanged confused looks.
Thora had a rough idea of what it would be, but she stayed calm, paying close attention to Valen.
“You’ll all enter as players, fully immersed with holographic tech. The game is called-Apocalypse.”
Finished
At the word Apocalypse, Thora’s expression shifted slightly, but she quickly realized it was just a game, not the actual apocalypse she had experienced before.
“You’ll take on missions, earn points, and your final ranking will determine admission. You all know spots at Blue Star Military Academy are limited. As for how points are scored-” Valen paused for effect. “The game will explain everything once you enter.
“This is also the first time we’re using a full-immersion game for freshman testing! I hope none of you disappoint us!”
Valen’s voice was broad and powerful, capturing everyone’s attention. Almost instinctively, all of them sat straighter.
Only now did they notice the “eggshell” devices scattered across the room were holographic game pods.
Thora had suspected it earlier, and now it was confirmed.
Full-immersion games weren’t unusual in post-apocalyptic times. By linking consciousness to a computer, players could experience every sensation in the game as if it were real.
“Remember, every action in the game will be recorded. Your performance is tracked on your chip. Do your best and enjoy it!”
As soon as he finished, Valen’s image vanished along with the screen.
The examiners relaxed and began organizing the third round.
“All candidates, choose a pod and log in. Your in-game identity will link to your personal data. The assessment is starting. Get ready.”
A system alert sounded, and everyone scrambled to find a pod.
Shirley let go of Thora’s hand and picked one randomly, sliding it into the headset.
Thora followed suit.
Luke, Tristan, and Ryan chose pods close to each other.
They knew about full-immersion games, but none had ever been tested this way. Excitement and nerves hit
hard.
The moment Thora wore the headset, she appeared in a blank white space.
A login hub hovered above. She pressed a button, opening the character and name creation screen.

Chapter 329 Apocalypse
She typed “Ash” as her character name.

But when she hit the creation screen, a sudden weightlessness hit, and she was transported somewhere else.
A system voice announced, “Player name: Ash. Player character: Ash.”
Thora then realized the game used the player’s real self-no avatar design needed.
Her clothes switched to casual wear. Apart from that, she looked exactly like herself.
“Congratulations, Ash. Character creation complete. You’re about to enter the full-immersion game ‘Apocalypse’. Do you agree to the player agreement?”
“Yes,” she replied.
Instantly, her surroundings changed.
A wasteland stretched out before her. The dilapidated buildings and barren land were a shocking sight.
It was so familiar that she almost thought she’d been thrown back into the apocalypse she once lived through.
System text floated in the air, giving the game’s story.
“God created humans. Humans created the world.
“When desire bred greed and destruction, the world fell toward ruin.
“A fungus known as the ‘Infected’ spread among humanity, plunging the world into the apocalypse. Those infected became mindless monsters, further destroying what little civilization remained.
“Rovelle City is the only intact sanctuary, home to the last group of uninfected humans.
“Though disappointed in humanity, God still hid a sliver of hope within 12 uninfected individuals. They hold 12 cards that conceal the secret to saving the world.
“A warrior who gathers all 12 cards can unite hope and obtain the ‘Tears of God’, dispelling the darkness and bringing rebirth.
“Each card carries a unique ability usable by its holder.
“Warning: If a warrior searching for the cards gets infected, they’ll turn into a new Infected and receive the mission to destroy all warriors. They’ll become a hidden blade and traitor among their former allies.
“As warriors fight to save the world, they’ll earn points. The point rankings represent overall strength—”
Reading it all, Thora understood the gameplay. The core was to find 12 cards in Rovelle City via missions, but points were the main goal. Balancing point gain with the main quest would be the key decision for
everyone.
Killing Infected or other players alone wouldn’t earn enough points, and there was no time limit. Obviously, the game would only end when the cards were gathered and the world reborn.
Thora opened the point system. Glowing yellow text appeared.
