The Apocalyptic Queen's Werewolf Journey (Thora and Darius) novel Chapter 342

Chapter 342 Clash Between True Elites

Finished

As soon as Thora finished speaking, Ashley vanished from in front of her and reappeared about 30 feet away.

Thora locked onto her with an icy gaze. This was exactly what Ashton had warned her before leaving. “Boss, that woman has a Greywolf tattoo on her arm.”

Even back then, Thora had already guessed Ashley’s true identity.

“Oh! So, it was because of this. Guess this is the one mistake I couldn’t hide,” Ashley said. Her voice suddenly shifted into a male voice. It sounded smooth and pleasant, but coming from a woman’s mouth, it felt strangely unsettling.

She didn’t remove the disguise, but her face clearly showed excitement and secret delight.

Right now, she couldn’t remove it anyway. This face was only a data image created during character setup, based on his real appearance.

There was no doubt anymore. Ashley had openly admitted that she was Lance.

“My dear Ash, I never thought you’d expose me here instead of out there in the real world,” Lance said. He had known Thora was suspicious, but he didn’t expect her to confront him inside the game.

“Was the virus in the game your doing?” Thora asked coldly.

Lance brushed back the long blue hair and tied it into a ponytail. In an instant, his aura shifted back to Lance’s natural mix of elegance and toughness, just like the first time Thora had seen him in disguise.

The only mismatch was the female face. Aside from being a bit taller, it strangely didn’t look out of place.

“You want to know?” Lance asked in return.

Thora’s face stayed calm, and she didn’t answer.

But the way Lance spoke already proved he knew about the virus.

While collecting cards earlier, she had realized something. If the game system was truly altered, then even gathering all the cards might not end the game.

That was why she had planned to investigate the virus as soon as she got this card.

To sabotage the game, there had to be an insider among the players.

Everyone had gone through full-body checks before the test, so no one could have brought a virus inside. That meant the real mastermind had to be outside the game.

As for the one killing nonstop inside the game, that person was likely the mastermind’s partner. After the rumor spread that dying in the game meant dying in real life, the one whose kill count kept rising was Lance standing right in front of her.

“Ash, how about a Duel Mode?” Lance said. His eyes burned with excitement as he stared at Thora. “If you win, I’ll tell you the answer. What do you say?”

His deep voice was slightly hoarse but dangerously pleasant. This was Lance’s real voice, filled with pride, provocation, and the ruthless edge of a mercenary who lived outside the rules.

Thora met his gaze and replied with just one word, “Fine.”

That was exactly the answer Lance wanted. He glanced at the roaring monsters beyond the fence. “It’s too noisy here. Let’s go somewhere quiet.”

It sounded like a suggestion, but he didn’t wait for her reply. He pulled out a card and said, “Teleport!”

Before the word even faded, both of them vanished on the spot.

After a brief feeling of weightlessness, they appeared in a wide open area. There were no other players or NPCs, only the two of them.

As Thora lifted her head, a battle flag suddenly slammed into the ground in front of her.

“Player Ashley has issued a duel request. Do you accept?” the system prompt echoed in her mind.

Thora looked at Lance.

At this moment, Lance was no different from the arrogant mercenary she first met. His love for battle and hunger to face a strong opponent were fully exposed.

“My dear Ash, do you know how long I’ve been waiting for this moment?” Lance’s low voice carried clearly through the wind.

Thora curled her lips slightly and replied calmly, “Funny. Me too.”

Before the words even settled, she clicked “Accept,” and they entered Duel Mode at once.

Each other’s icons turned red in their vision, marking them as hostile and attackable.

This was a clash between true elites. Fighters at this level always longed for a battle like this.
