Chapter 347 Working Together

“Yes!”

They answered together and surged ahead to provide cover.

They fought with skill and carried solid equipment. Once the front stabilized, the pressure on the examinees behind them dropped quickly.

Still, everyone there was an elite. Hiding forever was not an option.

As hesitation crept in, their eyes caught Shirley, already positioned on the right-side high ground. Every shot she fired punched straight through a skull, precise and unwavering.

Memory kicked in at once. Back on the boat, she had picked birds out of the sky mid-flight without missing.

So that gentle, almost underage-looking girl was a concealed sniper.

What stunned them even more was that this entire lineup of powerhouses followed Ash’s commands without a single complaint.

After issuing the first set of orders, Thora stepped back. She understood pride well.

Yet under her clear direction, battlefield pressure eased almost instantly. The examinees were sharp. They sensed the momentum shift and adjusted on instinct, their attention drifting to Thora without realizing it.

Most of them were solo fighters, unused to teamwork and clueless about large-scale engagements.

The blond man studied Thora again, approval flickering in his eyes.

Gunfire and blasts echoed through the tower.

Catching their focus, Thora continued calmly, “Top twenty on the rankings, pull main aggro behind the crates on the left. Ranks thirty to fifty, rotate forward with grenades and soften targets. Everyone below fifty, stay in cover and finish off weakened enemies when you see an opening.”

Her assessment was instant. Those below fifty lacked the damage to threaten soldiers. Ranks thirty to fifty had power but not enough to dominate. Grenades would strip health, and the top twenty would close it out. Clean and efficient.

The blond man went from surprised to genuinely impressed. A faint smile tugged at his mouth. This trip had been worth it.

Once the orders landed, everyone moved.

Disorder snapped into formation, the team operating like a unit trained together for weeks.

“The terminal is in Boss’ office on the twelfth floor,” the blond man said quietly, only for Thora to hear. “That boss is the deadliest entity in this instance. Possibly in the entire game.”

“Okay,” Thora replied, voice steady.

She shot a sharp glance at Lance. “Make sure you weren’t bluffing.”

Then she called out, “Tristan, you hold this position. Luke, with me.”

“Got it.” Tristan nodded.

Under covering fire, Thora and Luke broke away and sprinted upstairs.

The blond man followed close behind.

Lance watched them go without moving. His blue eyes narrowed.

That remark from Ash meant he was staying behind.

It also meant she believed he had not caused the virus disaster and something deeper as well. He understood instantly. She was trusting him to hold the line.

Lance smirked.

Ash, you really trusted me.

Did you not fear I would use this chance to eliminate them one by one …

By then, the three had entered the elevator.

The blond man tailing them was exactly what Thora expected.

He represented the school, and they were headed for the system terminal. He alone knew the specifics, so his presence was inevitable.
