“But what about the toxic fog surrounding us? You got a solution for that?” The blond man studied Luke with open suspicion.

Luke glanced back at him and stayed silent.

Thora turned toward Luke. “Can you handle it?”

It felt like a wordless signal passed between them. Luke nodded once. “I can.”

Those short exchanges left most people confused, but Tristan and Shirley understood instantly.

The small group had developed a tacit coordination; no explanations needed, they already knew each other’s intent.

The blond man frowned at Luke and Thora. To him, only Number 230 mattered. Everyone else barely registered behind his glasses.

“The toxic fog is part of the game’s base system. I can remove that module and disperse the fog,” Luke said, his fingers already moving rapidly.

“Then just erase the virus too!”

“Yeah! Or delete us all, then we can just walk out!”

Someone shouted a foolish suggestion from the crowd.

Thora swept her eyes over them. “If you think it’s that easy, go ahead.”

Silence crashed down. The noisy murmurs vanished instantly.

The blond man let out a scoff. “Each layer of this game’s logic is completely different. The deeper you go, the tighter the framework gets. And don’t forget, you’re data right now. If you’re deleted, you’re permanently gone.

“And the virus can’t be deleted directly. To erase it, its core entity has to be destroyed first. Your death protocol is already linked to it.”

He continued, “The only way is to locate where the virus is hiding and wipe its core files manually.”

That explanation shut everyone up immediately.

He represented the academy, so his words carried authority. And if removing the virus were simple, he wouldn’t be trapped inside the game himself.

People exchanged uneasy looks before their attention slowly shifted to Luke.

Luke looked to Thora. Thora gave a faint nod.

He rolled his fingers once, then his hands blurred over the keyboard.

Inside the office, aside from dozens of quiet breaths, the only sound left was the sharp rhythm of Luke’s typing.

Breaking into the game’s code from within the game itself… this was Luke’s first attempt.

A sharp glint flared behind his lenses, the corner of his mouth lifting with restrained excitement. For someone like him, no thrill matched a technical challenge.

Meanwhile, outside the game.

“They’ve located it,” Jeremy said, unable to hide his excitement.

The other examiners finally exhaled as finding the virus was the critical breakthrough.

But the problem remained that if the fog didn’t lift, the examinees couldn’t even leave the building.

Sergio stared at the live feed. “That kid’s the one who hacked our surveillance system in Round Two and escaped the deserted island first.”

Roman smiled faintly. “Don’t just watch him. Look at who he actually listens to.”

Valen leaned forward against the table, fingers interlocked, eyes locked on the screen.

Roman was right. Hacker 235’s real allegiance lay with that striking boy-Number 230.

And not only him. Several others treated Number 230’s words as absolute authority.

Each of them was strong in their own right. Without Number 230 and the other two, they would’ve been the brightest stars.

“I’m more interested in Number 236. His close-combat ability is nearly on par with our instructors,” someone commented.

Every examiner had a favorite. Once the discussion started, opinions flew freely.

“I think the youngest girl has the greatest potential. She’s fast, sharp-minded, and her long- range sniping is top-tier,” a female examiner added.

Seeing Valen’s expression darken, Jeremy snapped, “Enough. Is this really the time?”
