**Shadows Hearts by Joseph King**
**Chapter 60: Infiltration**
The shrill sound of the class bell echoed through the halls, signaling the end of one period and the beginning of another. Thora sat quietly in her desk, her textbook already cracked open as she prepared for the day’s lessons. The pages fluttered slightly under her touch, but her mind was elsewhere, lost in thoughts that danced just beyond her grasp.
To her surprise, Class F, once notorious for its unruliness and disregard for authority, was beginning to mirror her newfound dedication. Was it her influence, or merely a coincidence? She pondered this as she observed her classmates.
Harvey, the class’s quintessential slacker, had taken on a new role. Whenever someone dared to disrupt the fragile order of their classroom, he would rise to the occasion, his voice booming with an unexpected authority. “Hey! Quiet down!” he would command, his presence suddenly larger than life. His peers would fall silent, their eyes wide with disbelief that the laid-back Harvey was actually taking charge.
What they didn’t realize was that Harvey’s motivation stemmed from a deeper admiration for Thora. He had begun to unconsciously emulate her, not just in his behavior but even in the way he sat, mirroring her posture as if she were a guiding star. The thought of “following Thora is the right call” had nestled itself comfortably in his mind. Ever since she had saved him and Ashton from a perilous situation, he had come to view her as more than just a classmate; she was now a part of his inner circle.
Thora’s strength fascinated him. Despite not having awakened her wolf powers, she had an innate ability to dominate in combat, a skill that commanded his utmost respect. He admired her tenacity, her unwavering spirit that shone through even the toughest battles.
As the teacher strolled into the room, the atmosphere shifted. She approached the podium, a smile playing on her lips, but instead of launching into her lecture, she announced, “Today, we have a new student joining us. Let’s give her a warm welcome!”
A new student? The murmurs of surprise rippled through Class F. Who could this newcomer be? Curiosity sparked in their eyes as they exchanged glances, and despite their initial confusion, they clapped politely, welcoming the mystery girl.
Thora’s gaze lifted, and her breath caught in her throat as a girl entered the classroom, clad in the Astralis College uniform. The newcomer was vibrant, her light brown hair tied into playful low pigtails that bounced with each step. The soft waves cascaded down her chest, framing her youthful face.
With a bright smile that showcased her dimples, she introduced herself, “Hi everyone, I’m Shirley.”
Instantly, the room was enchanted by her charm. Class F erupted with enthusiasm, welcoming Shirley with open arms and bright smiles.
Shirley’s eyes sparkled with mischief as they locked onto Thora’s. “Hi, Thora,” she said, her voice a melodic lilt that made the air around them feel electric.
A knowing glance passed between Thora and Shirley, the connection unmistakable. Thora’s expression hardened, her instincts kicking in.
Without hesitation, Shirley made her way to Thora, her demeanor sweet and innocent. “Could you let me have this seat?” she asked Luke, her eyes wide and pleading.
