Oliver was speechless.

Seriously, she’s totally obsessed with Thora!

“In a couple of days, I’ll send someone to get you out.”

After that, he turned and walked away, his back already giving off a clear vibe of “I’m not happy about this.”

He had known Shirley for years. Every time she caused trouble, he was the one cleaning it up, working like crazy as if he were her father.

So why was he working so hard while someone new like Thora got treated better?

The more he thought about it, the angrier he became.

Walking out of the werewolf prison’s military high-offender block, his phone rang.

Seeing who was calling, he quickly answered, dropping his usual playful tone. “Hey, Darius.”

“Mm. Is everything taken care of?” Darius asked, calm and clear over the phone.

“Don’t worry. I told her. She’ll be out in two days.”

Oliver paused and became serious. “Darius, I owe you one. Shirley’s mess-Mr. Reed has spent years keeping her off the Astralis Empire’s radar. If it weren’t for you…

Before he could finish, Darius’s teasing voice cut in, “Senator Caldwell, who’s always been through a thousand flings without getting involved, actually thanks me for one girl? That’s new.”

Oliver frowned and moved back a little. “I’m just helping Mr. Reed. The Reeds and the Caldwells have a long history. I can’t ignore it.”

“All right. I don’t have time for your family story.”

Darius’s voice carried a small smile. “I wasn’t planning to help. If you want to thank anyone, thank the fact that Shirley met my future mate.”

Then the call ended.

Oliver stared at his phone screen, his lips twitching twice.

Darius used to be completely uninterested in romance-never dated, never touched a woman.

Now that he was in love, he was all hearts and flowers. Totally unreal.

At the National Security Agency office, Ansel Hartman, the director, sat across from Darius.

But now, seeing him calm and respectful, that old image started to fade.

Noticing the change, Darius gave a careful, polite smile. “Thank you for helping with this. Because of you, Shirley’s case is being treated more lightly.”

Ansel waved his hand and spoke calmly. “You don’t have to thanping with this. Because of you,
