Chapter 158 Kiss Me, Joanna

“My queen, we just signed the contract, and today is a big day for us” Lucien said. “Well, it was yesterday, but still By rights, L should be the one sleeping with you tonight. You two aren’t going to steal my wedding night, are you?”
Nighthowl and Alwyn both clenched their teeth.
That annoying tiger!
They really wanted to punch him.
But Alwyn’s golden eyes suddenly shifted, and he thought about it. Maybe this wasn’t so bad,
If Lucien stayed with Joanna, he probably wouldn’t behave and turn into a small cute animal. Maybe it was time to let their bound partner learn a lesson.
“Fine,” Alwyn said. His heart felt sour, as if he’d been made a cuckold, but he still agreed.
Nighthowl looked at him in surprise. Then he thought about it. If someone different stayed with Joanna each night, wouldn’t that mean he could have her all to himself on his own nights?
And today, Joanna really did need to use Affinity Points to calm Lucien.
Alright. That would work.
Still, just thinking about it made him sad. He had never been apart from Joanna before.
A hint of sadness appeared in his silver eyes, and his voice turned soft and bitter. “Then, I won’t rest. I’ll go run a dungeon instead. That way, Joanna can get more resources.”
The moment Joanna heard that, her heart ached for him.
“We follow the order; today Nighthowl goes first,” she said.
She planned to comfort Lucien later. The attribute points she got from calming him were fixed. But the points she gained from absorbing Origin Energy would slowly drop the more she used it.
So, it made sense to use Origin Energy to level up, calm Lucien, and get the fixed amount. That was the better deal.
Lucien glared at Nighthowl right away.
Playing the weak card? Stepping back to move forward?
Is this a well–known hypocritical tactic used to gain the summoner’s favor?
Lucien’s tone turned sharp and strange.
He gritted his teeth and complained, “Then I won’t rest either. I’ll go run a dungeon too. I worked all day, and now I still have to run a dungeon at night. I’m so tired. Poor me.”
Joanna couldn’t help but laugh.
“Lucien, lower your head.”

“What for?” he muttered. He pouted, but he still bent down Joanna placed her hand on top of his head
She used 100,000 Affinity Points and calmed him once.
Just a small reward, so he wouldn’t keep making trouble.
It was Lucien’s first time being calmed. His eyes went wide at once. In that moment, he felt like he could forge Joanna for anything. He even felt like he liked her more.
“Alright. Everyone go get some rest,” Joanna said.
“O–okay,” Lucien replied, and obediently went to his room.
Alwyn could only rub his forehead.
See? You really shouldn’t be too much of a gentleman.
That night, there weren’t two fluffy companions squeezing in around Joanna.
Only Nighthowl stayed.
He behaved and turned into a small, fluffy pup. He looked very happy.
“Joanna, today I ate a really big moon. I can give you some energy back.”
“System Notice: Your contract beast truly cares for you. You have received a bonus: Corrupted Frenzy.”
Joanna froze.
This was the first time she hadn’t used any Affinity Points, yet Nighthowl still gave her energy back.
Before, feedback between a summoner and a summoned beast only happened when the summoner gave the beast a lot of resources. She had only ever given Affinity Points.
So, had she not given enough before?
She asked more questions and started to think.
Nighthowl liked things that looked like moons? Or maybe things linked to vision or eye–based skills?
If that was true, then the Sight Deprivation skill from before could have suited Nighthowl too. She had just used it herself because she thought he couldn’t give her feedback.
Thinking about it made her feel guilty.
“Thank you, Nighthowl. I’m sorry I didn’t give you better resources before. You’re a Transcendent Beast, I should have trained you more carefully.”
“You don’t have to work so hard,” Nighthowl said softly. “But… can you kiss me?”
“Of course,” Joanna said.
