Chapter 184 Hunter and the Prey
Joanna was no longer the weak girl who had no summoned beasts.
She was now the true boss of the program.
She swept her calm gaze over that student. He instantly felt like he had fallen into an ice pit.
“Relax. I won’t kill you,” Joanna said. “On your way here, did you see any other criminals?”
“No,” the student replied quickly. “This place is totally empty. It’s a ghost city!”
Joanna’s mind raced.
An empty city?
That was impossible. The system message clearly said this was Vicehaven.
If it was Vicehaven, then crime had to be here somewhere.
At first, Joanna thought the criminals would respawn after ten minutes.
But time had passed, and she still hadn’t met a single one.
That left only one explanation.
The real Vicehaven wasn’t here at all.
Joanna activated Celestial Gaze.
Her vision swept across the entire city.
The written language here wasn’t the standard galactic language. Still, some areas were bright and flashy, full of temptation and danger.
Casinos. Bars. Neon lights. Crime hid in places like these.
“Let’s go,” Joanna said.
She used Astral Step, taking her three contract beasts with her as they landed on that street.
“Search for hidden entrances.”
“Got it.”
The three of them split up. Joanna searched as well.

At the same time, inside Bloodmoon’s grand hall.
Kayden stood on the altar. Both his wrists were cut open. Blood flowed down and turned into two shadows, David and Irene.
The scene around them slowly became clear.
David and Irene were inside a dungeon.
It had been over a month since they were last seen. Both looked worn down, their faces filled with dark rage.
A few days ago, the system had given them a choice. Join a life-or-death battle. In return, their 200-year sentence would be cut down to just 2 years.
They agreed without hesitation.
Wasn’t this earning freedom through service?
Give them more missions like this, and they could walk out someday.
Freedom meant opportunity.
But once they entered the dungeon, they finally understood the truth.
“You have entered the Divine and Demon Training Program-Limited Assessment Dungeon: Vicehaven (Public Dungeon).””Main story background: This is a city of crime, soon to be washed in the blood of the chosen.
“Kill these gifted elites, and you may escape punishment. Among them is your enemy. Defeat her to take control of your fate again. Fail, and you will become a stepping stone on her rise.
“Main mission: Kill Joanna Lane.”
“Hahahaha!” David laughed bitterly. His eyes burned with hatred. “So we’re just whetstones for her blade.”
For over a month, he had been living in anger and regret.
David regretted refusing reconciliation. He hated that he hadn’t killed Joanna earlier, before she rose to power and used the Space Alliance’s judgment system to lock him away.
But now he saw it clearly. The Space Alliance had an even crueler plan.

To clear a path for the genius, every threat had to be erased.
But were they really so sure Joanna would kill them? What if they killed her instead?
“She was only Level 16 during the SAT,” Irene shouted angrily. “Even if she passed the Star Domain Battle and entered Divine and Demonic Academy, she’d be what-Level 20 at most? How could she possibly beat us?”
David said coldly, “They’re trying to use someone else’s hands to kill us. Remove Joanna’s future threat. So, we can’t be careless. Our only target is Joanna,” he continued. “Ignore everyone else. Kill her, then hide until the dungeon ends.”
