Chapter 223 A Missing Link
Joanna had once talked with Nighthowl, Alwyn, and Lucien about their world.
It was a world where guides were extremely rare-so rare that the ratio had dropped to one guide for every 10,000 Sentinels.
But even a single guide had limits. At most, they could stabilize only ten Sentinels. Doing more would exhaust them completely. So what happened to the remaining 9,990 Sentinels?
They were treated as expendables.
They were sent to barren frontier planets. Thrown onto the front lines. Used like living bombs, with no distinction between friend or foe, meant to perish along with the Swarm or hostile alien races.
Nighthowl, however, possessed the Astral Step.
With it, he could precisely locate the coordinates of that plane. On the battlefield, he could intercept those already-twisted Sentinels and have Summoners contract them. Once contracted, their sanity could be restored, and they would ultimately become personal contract beasts.
So the plan was clear. Only one piece was missing.
How could twisted Sentinels regain their sanity?
That part was actually simple.
“Mental Stabilization (Silver-tier): A mental-type healing skill. It could block attacks from paranormal entities and eldritch creatures, and it was also the best treatment after trauma caused by Lash Purgatory.
Pastors typically learn this skill. Because the Space Alliance System had strict and detailed classifications, Summoners rarely considered learning Mental Stabilization when they saw it.
But in truth, everyone had learned this back in college.
Skill mastery depended on the individual. If you were strong enough, even a mage could use warrior skills. Joanna, as a Summoner, could also become a Spellblade after Symbiotic Fusion.
Still, procedures had to be followed.
First, she needed to apply to the system to recreate a version of Mental Stabilization designed specifically for Summoners.

Second, she had to modify the Bloodcall Circle, precisely aligning it with planes like Nighthowl’s.
Then Summoners could begin contracting twisted Sentinels on a large scale, saving them while also giving Summoners humanoid pets.
Joanna even came up with an ad slogan on the spot, “Get your humanoid contract beast. Love begins at this moment.” Perfect.
Of course, the research project itself was now secure, but Helen’s situation still had to be addressed.
“There’s actually another way to save the professor,” Joanna said.
“What is it?”
This time, it was Beatrice who asked.
“The professor was petrified. If we use Petrification Laws to absorb petrification itself, we might be able to undo it.
“I already have a fragment of a Petrification Law. I can collect more, raise its quality, and then try again with the professor.”
Beatrice shook her head in disagreement.
“Even if your rules can counter petrification effects, there’s still the problem of getting to the Divine Battlefield.
“Anyone below Level 60 isn’t allowed to enter. The academy won’t let students come into contact with it too early.
“They have to protect their top talents. They won’t let you take that kind of risk.”
Joanna frowned deeply.
“Is there no other
way in?”
Beatrice thought for a moment. “Unless all your core attributes reach 30,000. That’s basically senior-year final exam level. Or you could become a war reporter.”
“A war reporter?”
“They only need a mental attribute of 20,000. They don’t participate in combat. But you’d have to join the Public Relations Club. Did any clubs invite you before?
“Actually, forget it. You really shouldn’t go. That’s an evil god. Even the professor fell victim.”

Joanna was speechless.
She had just offended George and Sophie from the Public Relations Club-the president and vice president. Joining that club would be difficult.
Still, she wondered if the selection process might be fair. If it was, she couldn’t only join the club, but even enter its management.
