Chapter 235 The Old and Tired Sun
Joanna was still in Symbiotic Fusion form. She did not look like a normal human.
Only now did she realize something important. Everything that just happened had been a dream.
Under the system scan, the spiderwebs around them finally showed their real name.
“Dreamweave Web: A mystical web spun by the Nightmare Spider race. Anyone trapped inside will be pulled into endless dreams, wandering until their life slowly fades away.”
The entire world was covered by the Dreamweave Web. Everyone had fallen into a sleepwalking state.
They were alive, but they had become food for demons.
“Joanna, are you awake?” Alwyn’s voice sounded nearby.
“Yeah,” Joanna replied.
Lucien spoke up quickly, clearly nervous. “My queen, I didn’t mean it like that. You were trapped in a nightmare. No matter how we called you, you wouldn’t wake up. Nighthowl said nightmares are easier to break if we speak sharply, so I had to say those things.”
Inside, Lucien was close to tears. Why was he always the one who had to be the bad guy?’
“That really was a nightmare,” Joanna said. “It was terrifying.”
She still felt a chill and disgust rising in her chest.
Luckily, she had been awakened quickly.
Even better, she had entered this place while still in Symbiotic Fusion.
Nighthowl, Alwyn, and Lucien were no longer considered human by the system. They were classified as part of the demon faction, so they hadn’t been dragged into the dream.
Because of the fusion state, they were even able to enter Joanna’s dream and wake her up.
“We need to find the enemy fast,” Joanna said seriously. “This kind of mental attack is extremely strong. It can pull someone into a dream instantly. If three hours pass and we exit Symbiotic Fusion, my mental strength will drop. I’ll be much easier to trap in a dream.”
She paused, then added, “Still, this isn’t hypnosis. As long as you know it’s a dream, you will wake up eventually.

“And the Dreamweave Web covers the whole planet,” she continued. “If we leave the planet, we might not be affected anymore.
“If we can’t find the enemy in three hours,” Joanna concluded, “we leave.”
She looked up at the sun and froze.
A health bar had appeared above the sun, which was terrifying on its own.
Worse, the bar was broken and almost empty, and the sun looked like it was about to go out.
If the sun went dark, the planet would fall into eternal night, which meant sleep, and sleep meant being dragged into dreams.
This sun wasn’t normal, and it was likely a friendly ally.
The system task had already said this world—Aqualis-was a high-combat world. Before the demon invasion, it should have had many powerful fighters.
Right now, the sun itself looked like one of those high-level combat entities.
Whether she was right or not, Joanna needed to check.
Every mission required exploration.
And this enemy was clearly dangerous. Joanna was not arrogant enough to rely only on her current strength.
Using every possible advantage and crushing the enemy fast was the safest path.
She stepped forward. In the next moment, she stood nearly six miles above the ground.
The sun wasn’t outside the atmosphere. It was just a miniature one.
It glowed, but it wasn’t burning hot, instead it felt warm and comforting.
Joanna activated Lunar Aegis to heal it, but nothing happened.
She thought for a moment, then used another skill.
Verdant Bloom.
The “sun” suddenly began to move, pulsing-thump, thump, thump-and started to shrink.
That wasn’t a sun. It was a heart.

surging like a giant’s.
Slowly, he opened his eyes.
“I-I’m alive?” he muttered. “Has a hundred years already passed? Has a new War God slain the Demon God?” He looked down at his body as it rapidly shrank, stopping at normal human size.
Then he noticed Joanna in the sky.
Black-and-white wings spread behind her. Silver hair flowed in the air. Golden skin glowed softly.
“You… are you the new War God?”
She didn’t look human, and there was demon energy on her.
“I’m a special envoy of the Space Alliance,” Joanna said calmly. “You can think of me as a savior, a space cop, or a peacekeeper.
“My alliance exists to save human worlds across the universe.
“Your world is on the brink of collapse. I was sent here to help.”
She added, “My name is Joanna. Can you tell me what’s happening here?”
While she had been trapped in the dream, Joanna had already absorbed the local language and writing.
The system automatically provided translation. Communication was easy.
The old man stared at her, clearly shaken. With their world’s technology, they had not even left their own planet yet.
The idea of parallel worlds, layered universes, and interstellar alliances was far beyond them. Most invaded worlds were like this. Low technology. Weak world consciousness. It’s easy for demons to en portals and enter.
