Chapter 403 That’s Not the Reason
After Joanna became the student council president, Haul added her to a chat called “Divine and Demonic Academy Student Council Group.” It was the private channel where all past presidents and vice presidents gathered. Around 2,000 people were inside. Every one of them was a Starlord, and a few had even reached Star Domain Lord, each managing more than 100 dimensions.
There were still no Mythic-level members in the group. Sometimes, the chance to ascend was just ridiculous. Those people had all been the strongest students in their classes, yet none had reached Mythic-level.
Even so, Joanna’s joining lit up the whole chat. Notifications popped up one after another.
“@Joanna, welcome. Becoming a Dimension Lord while still a student is incredible. Way cooler than what I did back then. Hope we can learn from you.”
“@Joanna, you really might become a god someday. Wishing you success on the path ahead.”
“@Joanna, do you need help developing your new planet? If you run into problems, just say it.”
Joanna typed a few replies, then stopped chatting.
Most of the council’s daily work was handed over to Katherine. She also invited Alwyn to assist since he was skilled at management.
Right now, Joanna’s top priority was completing her class-change mission.
She didn’t want to use the mission waiver unless necessary. That meant she needed to locate an evil god and help defeat it.
For Helen, finding an evil god usually wasn’t difficult.
But when Joanna asked, Helen gave the news that made her laugh and sigh at the same time.
“All the evil gods suddenly stopped attacking the Space Alliance. It’s like they planned it together.
“A senior research institute just released a paper about it. Your clearance level can’t view it yet, but gods can already see the clues.
“After the Decennial Tournament, humans obtained a mysterious substance. The institute calls it ‘god gene’
“The Decennial Universe is enormous. Its dimensions are extremely high-level and can support a large number of Mythic-level beings. Compared to that, the Space Alliance is small. We’ve

only got 127 Mythic-level humans.
Finished
“Once that mysterious substance appeared in the Decennial Universe, the evil gods all pulled back at the same time. There’s a good chance this god gene can restrain them.
“The main research institute is working like crazy. They want to extract the god gene and create ‘children of god.'”
“At the same time, they’re studying whether it can be turned into signals, aerosols, or potions. If that works, it could weaken evil god pollution and stop their invasions.”
“So I accidentally blocked my own path?” Joanna laughed helplessly. “It’s fine. I still have the mission waiver. I just don’t want to use it yet. If no evil gods show up after a month, I’ll use it to level up.”
“No need to rush. Your god-slaying method might still work. If we can’t find an evil god directly, we can track their cultists.
“Once we locate the cultists, we follow the trail and enter the evil god’s inner space to fight.
“But it depends on the god’s level.”
Joanna thought for a moment.
“Before I left for the Decennial Tournament, I met my old teammates from high school. They’ve all become cultists now. I remember they were arrested.
“As for their current connections…
“One of them worships the Broodmother, Nyssara.
“I didn’t keep track of the others.
“Oh, and Morgan is still missing. He might have pledged loyalty to an evil god, too.”
Helen sighed. “Nyssara can’t be killed.”
“Is she that powerful?” Joanna knew ancient evil gods were terrifying. They had destroyed many dimensions.
To defeat Nyssara, she would likely need many Mythic-level humans working together.
Helen had only recently become a god.
There was no way she could gather that kind of force.
And Joanna didn’t want to spend countless favors just to gather gods for a Level-60 class-

change mission. That kind of debt would be huge.

“That’s not the reason,” Helen said, rubbing her forehead. After becoming a god, she had gained. access to far more information and understood the Space Alliance much better.
“It’s about population growth. You know the Alliance rules. Except for combat professions, all support and life-skill professionals have birth quotas. Every woman must have 100 children.
“Part of it is because the Alliance wants more people to grow stronger. But the deeper reason is the Broodmother’s influence.
“And the Alliance allows it. Honestly, with Nyssara’s laws affecting things, population growth becomes extremely fast.
“If she dies, people’s willingness to have children would drop sharply. The ever-prosperous Space Alliance would face obstacles in its development.”
Joanna was shocked.
Then everything suddenly made sense.
When she first arrived in the Space Alliance, that rule had been the first thing that scared her.
It felt unreasonable and terrifying.
Who could even live to 120 and have 100 children?
