“The Machine Faction can invade system networks. Even the Space Alliance’s support systems can’t fully block them. Without system assistance, some professionals suffer a major drop in combat strength, and some may not even be able to activate their skills at all. That’s why testing is required.”

Joanna nodded. “Understood. I’ll take the test later. But my contract beasts won’t need it. They don’t rely on system support and can still use their abilities normally.”

There were 11 more Public Dungeon Studies sites that wanted Joanna’s help.

This time, though, she didn’t agree to all of them. Public Dungeon Studies was a long-term commitment, and there was no way she could take everything on herself. In the end, she only selected five that were stable enough to hold for another month or two.

The ones in immediate crisis, she turned down instead.

“I’ll be completing my Comprehensive Dungeon Studies internship first, so for the most urgent cases, you should ask someone else. Don’t let the war effort be delayed because of me.”

They could hardly hide their disappointment, but they still nodded in understanding.

After all, no matter how many contract beasts Joanna had, she still couldn’t split herself across more than a dozen planes.

Next, Joanna completed the required test, had her skill proficiency certified, and began her dungeon runs.

The first one she entered was the Corpse World. A world like that was a classic zombie-plague planet. These dungeons weren’t especially resource-rich.

For example, a level ten zombie dungeon might still contain potions, food, gold, and other supplies. But by level 60, food resources were often gone, and there might not be any gold left either, because by then the Zombie King usually attacked the last human fortress. And inside. those fortresses, no one would have kept useless things like gold.

As for potions, the side effects were severe. The only truly valuable drop was zombie crystal

cores.

That meant the rewards were poor, and people generally didn’t like running these dungeons.

The chief commander of that dungeon had ended up trapped in exactly that situation. The dungeon had stayed uncleared for too long, its difficulty was high, and now the seal was failing.

In desperation, he had turned to Joanna. And by sheer luck, he had found exactly the right

For Joanna, going in alone or going in with a group made little difference. She called Katherine, along with Cassian, Lorena, and the others.

Back when her level had been too low, she hadn’t been able to bring them into dungeons with her. But now she had started leading advanced professionals.

Cassian and the rest hadn’t done many dungeon runs before. Most of their growth had come through cultivation. From now on, though, they also needed dungeon experience.

The moment they entered, Joanna and her team appeared inside an aircraft. The cabin was full of NPCs, all human.

“Everyone, this is our last chance to save the planet. Wherever the fused Zombie King passes, every species is infected. The survivor base is currently in the north, where the cold air has frozen the zombies into ice statues. But the Zombie King hasn’t pursued the survivors. It’s moving south instead. That is absolutely not good news.

“If it keeps going, it may eventually reach the ocean. The moment it enters the sea, the contamination will spread into the water. Once the ocean is polluted, the water will evaporate, condense into storm clouds, and fall as rain.

“When that happens, the whole world will be contaminated. Even the north will fall. All it takes is one spring rain. We have to stop the Zombie King before it gets there.”

As the last words fell, the helicopter door opened. A violent gust of wind swept through the cabin, carrying with it a horrible stench.

Joanna put on a gas mask. Her teammates did the same, every one of them cautious. This dungeon had a hundred participants, making it a large-scale instance.

In reality, a lot of dungeons like this were cleared by throwing bodies at them, because the boss was simply too powerful,

Then Joanna saw the fused zombie,

It really was fused together, a mountain of zombies in motion, Countless corpses had been mashed into one mass, held together by thick, sticky fluid. That fluid was also a virus. Anything it touched on the ground would turn into a zombie,

The fused zombie was roughly 650 feet across and over 300 feet tall. To most people, it was an overwhelming monster.

To Joanna, though? Nothing worth mentioning.

The things she usually fought were on the scale of supergiants.

A creature like this had trapped the planet for that long?

Joanna switched skills, then casually pointed at the giant zombie.

The ground shook. A vast stretch of land transformed into a field of molten lava.

Magma Furnace, that was Alwyn’s ability.

Then the lava surged up like a tidal wave, crashing in from all directions and swallowing the fused zombie whole.

Less than two minutes later, the dungeon was complete.

The NPCs around them hadn’t even had time to cheer. They had all frozen in place.

“System Alert: You have cleared World-Ending Threat in the Polluted Sea Region (Abyss-tier).”

Total combat time, excluding dialogue, 2 minutes 31 seconds.

Rating SSS-rank.

“Go check whether there’s anything worth collecting in this dungeon. If there isn’t, we move on to the next one. We’re pushing this dungeon down to Hell class today.”

At Joanna’s command, everyone answered at once and scattered to search the area.

At that moment, Joanna’s thoughts stirred.
