Chapter 487 The Cost of a Name
In that moment, Gavy’s decision crystallized completely.
Finished
She’d lost believers, which had drained her faith reserves. The battle against Mortis had done further damage on top of that. She wasn’t a complete divine entity anymore, not really.
Something closer to a demigod now, still in possession of law-tier skills but operating at a fraction of her former strength. Joining Nightstar Group was simply the most rational choice available to her.
Joanna’s eyes lit up. She’d been quietly considering whether to extend an invitation. She hadn’t needed to.
“Gavy, welcome aboard.”
With Gavy in the fold, nothing left on the continent stayed hidden for long. Benjamin already had a nose for treasure, but local knowledge cut the search time down considerably.
Gavy held nothing back, and Joanna relayed everything to all eight contracted companions within
minutes.
The priority targets were obvious: the palaces of the gods who’d fallen, the ruins of kingdoms that had collapsed under Mortis’s reign. All of it could be catalogued, transported, and developed back in the Little God Star System. Salvage was always faster than building from scratch.
Ennis recovered faster than expected too. Without Mortis’s death aura suppressing him, the Fire God’s regeneration accelerated, and he was fully revived in under a month.
When Joanna invited him to join Nightstar Group, he had turned her down.
“I’m grateful you came, Ms. Lane. Truly. But I’m not leaving the Celestial Expanse. Gavy’s different from me. Her believers were a handful of fishing families. Mine are spread across the entire continent. I’ll stay and protect them and I will shatter the darkness!” Ennis declared, his arrogance plain for all to see.
Joanna opened her mouth, then closed it.
He clearly meant it. The devotion was real. The problem was that once the Space Alliance formally integrated this dimension, his believers were going to have options, and most of them would probably leave. Anyone who stayed risked eventual exposure to residual death contamination. The undead plague didn’t care about faith.
She decided against saying any of that. She’d sell him reinforcement serums later. He’d figure the rest out.
“I respect that. If you’re staying, you can apply to become Dimension Lord or Planet Chief.”
Ennis was operating at demigod capacity. Rebuilding a genuine faith base would require something in the range of ten billion new believers, and at natural growth rates, that was a thousand-year project at minimum.
But his mind was clearly made up, and pushing a stubborn fire god who she barely knew wasn’t going to accomplish anything.
Instead, she sold him what she had. The 20″ permanent land ownership went for 80 quadrillion Starcoins.

Chapter 487 The Cost of a Name
She also threw in the naming rights, which sounded like nothing but carried real weight.
Finished
Names shaped perception, and perception built faith. There was a reason this continent had spent years called Deadwhisper. Mortis had seen to that.
Ennis was desperate for faith-building leverage, and Joanna knew exactly how to price desperation. The naming rights went for 20 quadrillion.
The continent that had gone from Celestial Expanse to Deadwhisper Continent now became the Ennis Continent. The dimension was renamed accordingly: Ennis Dimension.
He didn’t have the funds on hand, so they drew up an installment contract. If things went well, he’d clear the debt in about a century.
If development stalled, he’d end up working for Nightstar Group anyway, and he’d get considerably worse terms by that point.
Joanna didn’t linger. She brought Gavy back to the Little God Star System and set her up on Oceanstar, which was a significant step up from a continent still rebuilding itself from a god-level catastrophe.
That wasn’t all. Joanna wasted no time arranging a media push to help restore Gavy’s faith numbers.
And as luck would have it, George was in his senior year internship now and hadn’t gone back to his family at all. He’d come straight to Joanna’s side instead, taking on the role of communications lead.
‘Don’t worry, Ms. Lane. I’ve got this covered.”
The headlines hit the interstellar network in waves.
