The extra one million Starcoins still made his heart ache.
But if you don’t spend money, you don’t get results. And besides, the SAT hadn’t started yet. If Joanna wasn’t happy, what if she got transferred to another school? That would be a disaster.
That absolutely could not happen.
“Alright. No problem. I’ll have the teacher send the materials to you right away.”
Very soon, the new materials were sent through the marketplace and delivered directly to Joanna.
After receiving them, Joanna didn’t summon anything right away.
She only had 70 affinity points at the moment. That might not be enough to meet the summoning requirements. She would need to grind monsters a few more times.
This time, she planned to spend 200 affinity points to summon a new contract beast.
That meant the Spider Lady dungeon was no longer suitable.
Spider Lady required teaming up with other players. Once Joanna’s affinity points went over 100, the mental pressure she caused to human teammates would become too strong. She needed a dungeon with large numbers of monsters that she could clear solo.
“While I’m at it, I’ll grab the last record too.”
Joanna filtered through the dungeon list. Her gaze finally stopped on the challenge-stage dungeons.
In these dungeons, every cleared stage increased the number and strength of monsters.
The higher the stage, the harder it became.
The advantage was that a single run allowed players to clear many stages in a row.
Of course, the difficulty was extreme. But the more stages you cleared, the better the rewards.
Right now, based on the guides Joanna had unlocked, there were four options: Trial Grounds, Fruit vs. Zombies, Star Battle, and Wooden Sword Run.
Trial Grounds was a boss-challenge dungeon.
Fruit vs. Zombies allowed players to plant crops to help defend against waves of zombies.

Star Battle was a space combat game where players piloted starships and destroyed endless enemy fleets.
Wooden Sword Run was the strangest-and most tempting. Inside that dungeon, players picked up weapons that could evolve endlessly. The wooden sword spun around the player’s body at all times. The more wooden swords you absorbed, the higher your attack power became. Monsters flooded in nonstop from every direction.
Rumor said someone once cleared the entire dungeon. Their wooden sword evolved into a mythic-tier weapon, and they even managed to bring it out of the dungeon.
In terms of monster count, Wooden Sword Run was easily the most intense.
But it came with a deadly flaw. Every player had only 1 HP. You could revive after dying, but it was a PvP dungeon.
Countless professional players got addicted to it. They slaughtered each other day after day, convinced they were just one run away from clearing it and getting a mythic weapon. Instead, they wasted endless time. Their HP kept dropping. In the end, many of them were completely ruined.
Joanna crossed that option off immediately.
That left only one choice.
“Well, if I clear this dungeon successfully, I won’t have to worry about fruit supplies for a whole month.”
She called out to Nighthowl. The two of them teleported to the dungeon plaza.
Meanwhile, Lucas, Cedric, Neil, and Rhoda received the message and rushed to the hospital.
After the end-of-month evaluation, Dawnbreaker had suffered a crushing defeat.
Everyone had been moved into ordinary dorms. Lucas had been holding in his frustration the whole time. In the end, he simply announced a one-day break for the team. No activities. No training.
At least this way, he didn’t have to be responsible for feeding everyone.
More importantly, their ranking had dropped to 34th place. This month’s scholarship was only 30,000 Starcoins.
What could that amount even do?

They had never lived this frugally before.
This couldn’t go on.
