Chapter 56 The Lion from the Artificial Sun

“What is that presence?”

“Oh wow, I really want to go there. It feels like the companion I’ve been waiting for.”

“Over there. That spot.”

Countless warships lifted into the sky. Mechs powered on. Some humans shifted into beast forms and crossed the void.

At that moment, the artificial sun began to pulse.

Yes. The sun was beating.

“ROAR!”

A massive roar echoed in everyone’s soul. A terrifying wave of fire burst across the star.

Flames blasted away the molten surface.

Lava sprayed outward and revealed what lay beneath.

It was a huge, round cage made from a strange metal, carved with glowing patterns.

“Awoooo!”

From inside the star came an urgent roar.

With a thunderous crash, a giant lion wrapped in golden flames leapt from the cage and charged through space.

The lion locked onto a glowing circle. His massive body shrank and shifted again and again until he took on a human shape and entered the circle.

The circle closed.

Across the bright universe, three planets slowly went dark.

Everyone froze.

“The star….

the star is gone!”

“The Flame Duke escaped!”

“Level One Alert. SSS Class Twisted Sentinel, Flame Duke missing. Extreme danger. Begin

At Trinity High, inside Villa One.

Joanna drank a recovery potion and stared at the circle, which now shone with blinding gold light.

Inside the glow, a human shape slowly appeared.

This time, it wasn’t just a summoned beast.

It was a human-shaped contracted companion.

Joanna’s heart raced with excitement. As the light faded, a man with wild, messy golden hair came into view.

Hidden in that fierce hair were two fuzzy, half-round ears.

They were gold too.

He was strikingly handsome. Heat rolled off him. His skin was sun-browned, and tiny golden sparks flickered around him.

His face was sharp and powerful.

His build was thick and strong. His arms were as thick as Joanna’s thigh. His chest was broad.

His abs were carved into eight clear lines, with a hint of golden fur on his stomach.

Joanna quickly looked away and opened the marketplace. She bought a set of men’s casual clothes in a size that fits someone about 6 feet 3 inches tall.

“Hello. I’m your bound partner. My name is Joanna. I’m glad you chose me and formed a contract with me. These are clothes from our world. Please put them on.”

“I apologize,” a steady voice replied.

“My name is Alwyn Sharp. I was … a duke in my galaxy. Two hundred years ago, I became twisted and could only stay in beast form. Crossing the circle drained much of my power. Forgive my state.”

He covered himself with the clothes and gave a small bow, showing perfect manners.

Then his golden eyes flared with a wild excitement that didn’t match his polite tone.

The moment the contract was complete, they both felt it. Their souls were tied together. There was no distance between them now. Only joy and thrill.

“Thank you. The energy from your circle helped me. Even a small amount eased my twisted state and gave me back some clarity. From today on, you are my guide. You will lead me forward.”

Joanna felt a surge of power flow back through the contract.

“Your contract has affected Alwyn. He sincerely thanks you. You receive a gift from your contracted companion. Vitality +400, Strength +200, Agility +200 and Spirit +300.”

Alwyn dropped to one knee. He took Joanna’s hand, kissed it softly, and rested his forehead against it.

How could anyone stay calm?

Joanna was thrilled. Her stats had jumped high. Those 1,000 affinity points were worth it. With her free hand, she patted Alwyn’s head. Then she gently touched his ears.

Wow. Even softer than Nighthowl’s fur.

Yep. Definitely a big cat.

She opened Alwyn’s status screen.
