The Best Revenge It Wasn't Even Your Child novel Chapter 324

“Geoffrey and Ivan met up in private a while ago. They haven’t been seen together since, but I’m pretty sure they’ve got something going on behind the scenes. And then there’s Adela, always trying to get close to Catherine. I’m worried Catherine can’t handle all of this by herself.”

Catherine had her hands full, dealing with cunning business veterans while also navigating the high-society wives’ circle. She barely had time to catch her breath.

“Set up a meeting with the CEO of NextGen Technologies,” Lance said, glancing down at his watch. “Tonight.”

Aaron looked confused. “Wait, what?”

Before he could get an answer, Lance had already picked up his file and left for his meeting.

“Who am I supposed to set it up with?” Aaron muttered, still lost. “NextGen’s CEO... Adolf? What’s this about?”

He had a ton of questions, but nobody was there to answer them.

Catherine had just left Adela’s place when she appeared in the news.

A reporter caught her on camera, claiming she was trying to network her way into the Eldervale business scene by cozying up to the right people. It didn’t take long for her background to get picked apart. Aside from being someone Lance trusted, she didn’t have any connections, and the socialites weren’t impressed. The article said she basically left the club in embarrassment.

As soon as the story hit, Ivan called.

“Catherine, this kind of news is going to be hard to explain to headquarters. Didn’t I tell you to just sit tight and let us handle things? The best thing for you is to just stay in your position and keep quiet.”

Catherine answered the call as she scrolled through the article on her phone. Ivan’s voice was crystal clear in the cramped car.

She waited until he finished and then replied, calm and steady.

“I can be replaced, but I’m not going to stop working. If I make a mistake, I’ll deal with it myself and talk to headquarters. You don’t need to worry about me, Ivan.”

She ended the call right there.

Catherine was the first to look away, quickly pulling herself together.

“Lance, Aaron,” she said, breaking the silence.

On her side, Catherine was dressed in a white blouse, her long hair pulled back. She wasn’t wearing any makeup, and her chin looked even more delicate on camera. She looked good—healthier, a little fuller, but not at all heavy.

“Have everyone else step out,” Lance said, nodding at Catherine in greeting before turning to Aaron.

The second he spoke, all the executives stood up and left the conference room.

In less than ten seconds, the big office was empty. Only Lance remained.

On-screen, they stared at each other, neither saying a word.
