The Best Revenge It Wasn't Even Your Child novel Chapter 335

Adelina and Sarah shared a glance, a silent conversation passing between them.

Sarah stood up first. “Since Lance wants a private word, let’s let them talk. Come on, let’s chat for a bit.” She walked over to Belinda, nudging her gently until she sat down on the sofa.

Belinda pulled away. “Didn’t we already say everything we needed to?”

“Don’t be upset. I got a little carried away earlier. We can’t let those kids mess up our friendship. You at least have Lance and Sophia, but I just have Adelina. She’s my only daughter. Of course I worry. Please, don’t be mad at me…” Sarah tried to make peace, her voice softening.

Meanwhile, Daniel followed Aaron out of the living room.

Aaron passed on Lance’s message word for word, then handed Daniel a few business cards.

Daniel looked confused. “What’s this supposed to mean?”

“Daniel, if you don’t get it, you might want to ask Adelina,” Aaron answered politely. “Lance said that if you’re still confused after talking to her, he’ll explain it himself.”

Daniel frowned, not liking the feeling of being left out.

“There’s one more thing,” Aaron added. “Lance wants you to know that nobody in the James family can make decisions for him. If your family has any issues with the marriage or with him, you can go straight to him. If you can’t reach him, come to me and I’ll pass on the message.”

Aaron had been with Lance long enough to pick up some of his boss’s confidence.

Daniel hesitated for a moment, then went back, gathered Adelina and her mother, and left.

By then, Sarah had already calmed Belinda down. Belinda was still annoyed, but she’d stopped with the harsh words, which was her way of giving Sarah some respect.

As Aaron tried to slip away, Belinda stopped him. “What exactly did Lance tell you to say to the Green family?”

“Belinda, Lance said you don’t need to worry about his business.” Aaron paused, not sure if he should continue.

Belinda shot him a look. “Say the rest.”

Daniel stared at them. “Are you two hiding something from me?”

“No,” Sarah answered quickly, maybe a little too quickly. Her certainty made Adelina’s stomach twist with nerves.

“I don’t care what you two are up to. This marriage is happening. If it falls apart, the James family only loses face. Their status won’t change. But we’ll lose everything, our reputation and our standing. And after this, it’ll be almost impossible for Adelina to find someone suitable to marry.”

When Daniel said “suitable,” he meant a family with a higher standing than theirs. There were plenty of families in Cabinda better off than the Greens, but none of them would want to get involved with Adelina after such a public breakup.

Adelina felt a wave of panic, but she still didn’t dare to say anything to Daniel.

Sarah squeezed her hand, trying to offer comfort. “No matter what, this wedding has to happen. Trust me, I’ll find a way, okay?”

Daniel knew he couldn’t control his wife and daughter, but he only cared about one thing: the marriage had to go through. Since they all wanted the same thing, he decided to stop interfering and just let things play out.
