Chapter 419
Lylah’s POV
Eldric had no answer.
For once, the Alpha of Ironcrest stood speechless beneath another Alpha’s judgment.
Finished
Daia grabbed Eldric’s arm at once, her fingers clamping around him tightly as though she could somehow keep the situation from collapsing completely out of her control.
And for the first time in my life, I saw genuine fear on the Luna of Ironcrest’s face.
“Alpha Ezra, please forgive us,” Daia said quickly, her composure cracking at the edges. “My mate didn’t mean to insult Lylah. We understand now that we made mistakes in the past by forcing her out of Ironcrest, but Eldric was only trying to protect your-”
The office door slammed open hard enough to shake the walls.
Zyrelle entered first, her eyes glowing faintly beneath the harsh lights, two Moonclaw guards at her back. Their wolves prowled close to the surface, immense and vicious beneath their skin.
At the slightest signal from Ezra, they moved.
Eldric barely had time to react before the guards seized him. Daia gasped sharply as another guard restrained her, while Orion froze in stunned silence.
Then they were dragged toward the door.
‘Alpha Ezra! Please forgive me!” Eldric shouted, his voice cracking with panic as he struggled against the iron grip holding him.
No one answered him.
His voice faded farther down the corridor until silence swallowed it whole.
The office finally grew still again.
Only then did I look back at Ezra.
‘So… I’m a little curious,” I said softly, glancing up at him. “You didn’t come here because you somehow knew Eldric was visiting me today… right?”
Or did he?
The thought lingered briefly in my mind.
Ezra’s expression softened the moment his attention returned to me. The dominance that had suffocated the room moments ago receded instantly, as though his wolf recognized there was no longer a threat near
“I came to bring you to the Research Center,” he said. “Archer said our latest prototype is finally ready. I

thought you’d want to see it yourself.”
Finished
Then his jaw tightened slightly. “But when I arrived, Grimwood informed me there was a family visit.” His voice lowered, roughened by restrained anger. “I didn’t expect it was Eldric.”
The storm beneath his calm tone was unmistakable.
“Lylah,” he murmured, stepping closer, “why didn’t you tell me he was doing this to you?”
I blinked in surprise.
“I truly didn’t know he would come today,” I admitted honestly. “He’s never visited before.”
Ezra studied me in silence, “What did he want from you?”
I hesitated.
Daia’s request regarding Orion surfaced immediately in my mind.
Part of me wanted to tell Ezra everything. Eldric and Daia deserved consequences for what they had tried to do today.
But Orion…
He had looked miserable the entire time. Trapped. Cornered. I could still remember the helplessness in his eyes while his parents spoke over him, as if his future belonged to them instead of himself.
He never wanted any of this.
‘Nothing important,” I said at last, forcing ease into my voice. “The usual insults. A few pathetic attempts to provoke me.” I shrugged lightly. “Other than that, nothing worth mentioning. I think they originally came here for Cora and simply decided to disturb me while they were at it.”
Ezra’s eyes narrowed slightly.
I could tell he didn’t fully believe me.
Still, he let it go.
‘I’ll station guards outside your office from now on.”
My eyes widened instantly. “No!”
The answer escaped too quickly, making him pause.
Then warmth bubbled unexpectedly inside my chest, and I laughed softly.
“Ezra,” I said helplessly, unable to stop the chuckle that escaped me, “if Moonclaw guards start standing outside my office, the students here will be too frightened to even step into this hallway.” I shook my head lightly. “What you did today was already more than enough. I don’t think Eldric will ever dare show up here again.”
A low sound rumbled from Ezra’s chest-not quite agreement, not quite satisfaction.
