The Billionaire Heir Fell for the Wrong Girl (Hathaway Whitmore) novel Chapter 132

Chapter 132

Even though Preston was still locked up, Jeremiah quietly reached out behind the scenes before his trip, got most of the Kingsley family’s business partners on board, and earned a lot of forgiveness for the family.

The Kingsley family finally breathed a little easier. Things were finally looking up for them, and life wasn’t as tough as before.

But when Jessica got home, she couldn’t shake off the sense of injustice and lingering resentment.

Why does Hathaway get to live her life as if nothing happened, and Jeremiah invited her out for dinner today?Jessica fumed with jealousy.

When the Kingsley family was in trouble, Jessica broke down in front of Jeremiah, telling him she had nowhere to go.

Deep down, she hoped he’d let her stay with him; he owned so many places, it wouldn’t take much for him to keep her close.

She pictured him eventually moving in, too. She’d learn to cook, wait for him to come home after work, and together they’d live the kind of life everyone else would be jealous of

But in the end, he still sent her back to the Kingsley family.

The more Jessica dwelled on it, the colder and emptier she felt inside. She locked herself away in her room, refusing to see anyone.

When Melanie pushed the door open, she immediately spotted the empty beer bottle sitting in the corner of the table. Her brows knitted together. Did you drink?

Jessica’s cheeks flushed with embarrassment. The beer bottle wasn’t for drinking, but at this point, she nodded vaguely, not really answering

Jessica had been eagerly planning to get closer to Jeremiah after dinner, hoping this would finally bring their relationship to the next level.

She thought it’d be bad enough if Hathaway was there, but then Scarlett showed up as well, completely ruining everything Jessica had hoped for.

Jessica was stewing in frustration when her phone suddenly buzzed.

When she saw the name flashing on the screen, her heart sank

It was Eleanor

Mom, could you step out for a bit I need to take this call, Jessica said.

She quickly got up and quietly motioned for Melanie to leave the room.

The call didn’t last long.

Eleanor briefly said, in a calm and distant tone, that she wanted to meet Jessica somewhere private

Jessica felt a wave of anxiety wash over her, but she agreed anyway.

Melanie saw Jessica hang up so quickly and immediately stepped forward. What did Eleanor say?

Jessica shook her head, her heart sinking like a stone. She had a bad feeling. This meeting was definitely not going to end well.

Seeing Jessica like this, Melanie’s eyes turned red, and she looked like she was about to cry.

Jessica, listen to your mom. If Eleanor asks, blame it all on your clueless dad. Say he was the one who got fooled, that he was set up, and none of it has anything to do with you.

Whatever happens to us, if we lose it, so be it. Don’t let any of this mess hold you back. Your future is what matters most, Melanie said, her voice trembling with worry.

Half an hour later, Eleanor had arranged to meet Jessica at a quiet coffeehouse.

They’d barely exchanged a few words before Eleanor cut straight to the chase, her voice icy and detached Let’s call it quits between you and Jeremiah.

Even though Jessica had braced herself, her face went very pale. She gripped her cup so tightly her knuckles turned white, blurting out in a rush, Mrs. Blackwood, it’s really not what you think!

Hathaway planned all of this. My dad got played by her, too! She set up this massive scheme ages ago, waiting for us to fall right into her trap.

Everyone who helped her disappeared into thin air after it was done. There’s no way to track them down. Yeah, my dad messed up, but honestly, he was fooled. He’s a victim here, too.

Eleanor paused, her eyes narrowing in surprise as she looked at Jessica. You’re saying Hathaway was behind all this?

Absolutely, Jessica nodded, her voice shaking with emotion. I’m certain. She couldn’t stand the idea of Jeremiah and me getting engaged.

Eleanor’s expression darkened, her tone turning colder. If she’s really that calculating and ruthless, there’s no way she’ll ever be my daughterinlaw. And if she tried to marry Lorenzo, I’d never let it happen.

The next day, Eleanor tracked down Elathaway.

Hathaway was still on the clock, so she stepped out with her work badge still hanging from her shin

They sat down in a quiet cafe, and Eleanor wand no time. She cut right to the chase. Are you the nud bebind what happened to Jessica’s father?

Hathaway looked up at her, calm as ever. It was handled by people who believe in justice

Chapter 132

Eleanor’s brows knitted together, and as she was about to speak, a waiter came over with their coffee.

As he set the cup down in front of Hathaway, it suddenly tipped, spilling coffee onto her clothes

The waiter’s deep voice came from above. I’m so sorry. Are you alright? How much was your shirt? I’ll pay for it, no matter what

When Hathaway looked up and saw his face, her mind went completely blank.

The man was strikingly handsome, with sharp, elegant brows and eyes that were long and slightly upturned at the corners. His skin made his features look more refined and gentle.

Even though he was wearing a standard waiter’s uniform, it fit him so perfectly that it looked tailormade. Most women who saw him couldn’t take their eyes off him.

No need to pay for it,Hathaway said flatly.

She stood up and smacked him hard across the face. Let’s call it with that slap. Don’t kid yourself. Stop wasting your time with these pointless games.

The waiter stood there, stunned, his jaw set in a hard, cold line.

Eleanor was caught off guard by the way Hathaway treated the waiter. It made her remember how, back when the Blackwood family first objected to Jessica, Jeremiah had stood up for her right in front of his mother.

Jeremiah had said, Jessica never makes things hard for people who are struggling. She always helps out however she can, she’s got good manners, a solid education, and she’s smart.

So tell me, what makes her not good enough to be your daughterinlaw?

Hathaway, Eleanor snapped out of her thoughts and quickly intervened. Let it go, for my sake.”

Eleanor handed the waiter a few bills as a tip, her tone soft. Go clean yourself up.

The waiter paused, looking at Eleanor with gratitude, as if she were his own mother.

Then he turned to Hathaway with open disdain. Miss, all the money in the world won’t help you. Give you. ten years, and you still wouldn’t have half the class or grace this lady does.

Hathaway let out a cold laugh. Seriously? He thinks he can tell me how to live? Another waiter trying to buy up to the rich and powerful

Rathway shot back with a mocking smirk, I’ve seen plenty of drama queens, but a male one? It’s the first time

Fleanor saw Hathaway wouldn’t budge an inch and sighed. Tm leaving. Sur yourself

With that, Eleanor stood up and walked out.

Once she was outside, she glanced back, but Elathaway didn’t bother to follow
