Chapter 131
“Let’s wait for Leo,” Evelyn said, her curiosity spiking.
She clutched Hathaway’s hand. “I can’t wait to see if he’s actually right!”
Leo stepped out for a moment and returned shortly after. “The bodyguards wouldn’t let Jessica in. That’s odd. Maybe I really was overthinking things earlier.”
“Oh, so your years of astigmatism and nearsightedness are suddenly cured? And now you expect me to buy that? I knew you were unreliable!” Evelyn smacked him. “No wonder your grandpa keeps griping about you
“You can’t keep the family business afloat, your head’s always in the clouds, and you turn every serious job into a total disaster. You never know what’s going on, and you love to overthink everything.
“Every time he sees you, he probably gets a few more gray hairs!”
Leo shrugged.
He didn’t care even if he was wrong.
Hathaway thought Evelyn was being a bit harsh, so she quickly tried to smooth things over. “Alright, alright, can we go now?”
I really can’t stand being here any longer, Hathaway thought. ‘If I stay. I’ll have to deal with Jessica’s face again.
As Hathaway finished speaking, Jessica walked back in.
Jessica looked pale as a sheet and slumped back into her seat, silent.
Everyone looked around, baffled, sharing puzzled looks.
Since she was Jeremiah’s girlfriend, a few people noticed her sitting alone and hurried over to strike up a conversation, trying to butter her up and ease the tension.
But now that the Kingsley family had messed up big time, people weren’t nearly as friendly as before.
Evelyn, clearly in no rush to leave, reluctantly tugged Hathaway along. I need to hit the restroom. Come with
me.”
Once inside, Evelyn turned on the tap and said, “Looks like Jessica got an earful. Any idea what she did this time?”
Hathaway shook her head. “Not my place to guess she replied,
Instead, she turned to Evelyn. “You’re a girl, you know Maybe you shouldn’t get sur personal with Lew all the time. He’s will a guy, and there are some things you shouldn’y talk about with fibra”
Fivelyn cut her off. “Pleie, Leo is not a guy to me ages ago. He’s my bestic, basically genderless in my hook

Chapter 131
She grinned and looped her arm through Hathaway’s.
When they got back, most of the crowd had already left, and Calvin and his friends were already gone
Just then, Jeremiah’s bodyguard walked past them and stopped by Jessica, leaning in to quietly tell her that he
wanted her to head home first.
Jessica nodded slightly, stood up with graceful composure, and walked out calmly.
Leo was still there, leaning against the window, his face dark as he talked on the phone. It was obvious he was getting chewed out.
When he hung up, he muttered under his breath, “Lucas is way too controlling.”
Still, as he complained, he unlocked his phone with a sigh and started wiping his recent Instagram photos one by one.
After deleting everything, he remembered Hathaway had asked for Calvin’s WhatsApp, so he sent it to her. T sent you Calvin’s WhatsApp.”
“Got it,” Hathaway replied, glancing at her phone. She figured she’d add him later. “Let’s go.”
Not far away, Jeremiah stood in the shadows of the corridor, catching every word of their conversation.
His face gave nothing away, but for a split second, a shadow of gloom flickered in his deep eyes, and the air around him seemed to grow colder.
“Mr. Blackwood, it’s about time to head to the airport,” the bodyguard said, stepping forward cautiously.
Jeremiah turned and walked away. Downstairs, the driver pulled up in front of him. He got in without a word, rolling down the window a bit. He saw Hathaway and her friends coming out, laughing and chatting.
“Let’s go,” Jeremiah said.
Jeremiah didn’t spare her another glance. He pulled out his phone and called Scarlett.
“Did you see Hathaway today?” he asked.
Scarlett sounded totally lost. “Who’s Hathaway?”
“You didn’t run into her?” Jeremiah frowned. Tll send you a photo.”
He paused for a moment. Leo’s Instagram was already wiped clean, and there weren’t any news pics of Hathaway anywhere online.
Jerennials frowned. “She’s the girl who saved the Defense Minister on the overp the news, and she’s pretty good–looking.”
while back. It was all over
“I don’t really pay attention to that kind of news, Scarlet replied houtly, then passed. “Do you ever bung But with girl sho aren’t pretty

Chapter 131
“Forget it.” Jeremiah reached up and tugged at his collar with a frustrated sigh
He hung up and told the driver, “Forget the airport. Take me to the hospital.”
He knew his own body way too well. There was no way he’d lose it in broad daylight for no reason.
Someone must’ve slipped me something again, he thought, just not as much as last time
Back when he busted that yacht crew, he torched all the illegal drugs on the spot, except for two pills Calvin managed to snag
Before leaving, Calvin shoved one into his hand, saying it’d help him get closer to his girlfriend. But he’d only been dating Jessica for a few days, and there was no way he’d ever touch that kind of filthy stuff.
When he got home, he tossed the pill into a drawer and didn’t give it another thought, figuring it’d never come up again.
But in the end, by some twist of fate, that pill ended up causing trouble for Hathaway.
It was like he’d shot himself in the foot.
After getting his shot from the doctor, Jeremiah called up HR. “Fire Alice.”
When Hathaway got home, she grabbed a quick dinner, chatted with Sylvia for a bit, then headed straight to her room.
She took out her phone and sent Calvin a friend request on WhatsApp.
Calvin accepted right away.
She didn’t bother sending a message. She wired him 15 million dollars straight to his account.
The chat stayed dead silent. He took the money, no questions asked.
He took it.
The moment she saw the “Payment Received notification, Hathaway couldn’t hold it in anymore. She huggeil her pillow and let out a totally unhinged scream.
Celeste pushed open Hathaway’s door, her voice tinged with concern. “Hathaway, are you okay? What was that scream now?”
Hathaway quickly masked her emotions and blurted out a quick lie. Ti fine, really got spookril bara horror movie
