The Billionaire Heir Fell for the Wrong Girl (Hathaway Whitmore) novel Chapter 181

Chapter 181

After a few more days of treatment, Hathaway was finally feeling better. She could now sit up, propped up by soft cushious on a medical trolley, and move around a bit.

They were staying in a private recovery ward on the top floor of the hospital. The whole floor was eerily quiet Aside from their own family, there were no other patients around, making the place feel almost deserted.

Sylvia’s eyes were gentle as she softly asked, “Hattie, how about I take you downstairs for a walk and some fresh air?”

Hathaway immediately shook her head. “No, Mom, I don’t want to go down.”

Hathaway knew Jessica was here too. If she went downstairs, there was a good chance they’d cross paths/

Thinking about how Melanie had treated her mom with that smug attitude in her previous life made Hathaway determined to keep them from meeting.

Hathaway asked, “Where’s my brother?”

Sylvia replied, “He’s been super busy lately, always out meeting people. I heard he barely comes home for dinner anymore.

Hathaway didn’t hesitate. “Mom, you should head home. My brother’s not around, and Celeste could use some help at home. I’m well taken care of here.”

“Mary and the maternity nurse are at home, so you don’t need to worry, Sylvia reassured her.

As they chatted, the caregiver came in and said there was a visitor.

It was Lorenzo.

When Hathaway glanced up and saw Lorenzo’s refined silhouette walk in, a rush of complicated feelings hit her all at once; she couldn’t begin to describe them.

“Lorenzo, why are you here? Don’t you have class today?” Hathaway asked.

Lorenzo furrowed his brows, genuine concern written all over his face. “Theard about your car accident, so I wanted to see how you were doing. Are you feeling any better?”

“I’m much better,” Hathaway replied softly, then asked, “How did you know I was in this hospital?”

“I asked Leo,” Lorenzo answered honestly.

Since he figured his brother and Hathaway had cut ties, he didn’t think about asking Jeremiah. So he went to Leo for the info instead.

Hathaway’s lips parted slightly, but she stayed silent.

Lorenzo spoke up, “I checked with your doctor. The accident left you with multiple serious injuries. You, Jost a ton of blood during the acute phase, and your organs took quite a hit.

Thankfully, the emergency team and hospital staff acted fast to stop the bleeding. Otherwise, you could’ve slipped into hemorrhagic shock at any moment, and things would’ve gotten really dangerous,”

“Mom, could you get some fruit ready for Lorenzo?” Hathaway said quickly, catching Syle’s face freeze for a moment.

She was probably still trying to make sense of what Lorenzo had said. Hathaway hurried to change the subject and give ber something to do, hoping to get her out of the room.

Soon, the sound of running water came from the bathroom.

Lorenzo quickly caught on that Hathaway didn’t want her mom to know the full extent of the accident. So your mom doesn’t know how serious it really was?” he asked.

Hathaway nodded. ‘By the time Mom found out, I was already out of the woods and able to sit up.

Lorenzo asked, “Was it the truck driver who pulled you out?”

Hathaway could only nod, a bit helpless.

“That’s pretty impressive. He actually knew how to do professional first aid,” Lorenzo said with a smile. “You really got lucky

Just then, Sylvia came out, and they’d already moved on from talking about Hathaway’s condition. Sylva gently asked about how Edmund was doing lately.

Edmund had always lived at Blackwood Mansion, keeping a low profile. After the engagement party, he barely showed his face in public anymore.

After answering a few questions, Lorenzo turned to Hathaway. “Hathaway, how about I take you downstairs? Getting some sunlight will really help your bones heal.”

Hathaway hadn’t expected him to be so considerate; she could see he was genuinely concerned about her, and for a second, she sat there, a little caught off guard by his kindness.

Sylvia chimed in, “Lorenzo’s a med student; he knows what he’s doing. If you won’t let me push you, at least let Lorenzo do it.”
