Hathaway shook her head. “No way?

Like in her previous life, after Sylvia got a little better, the chose to move into a sinitorium Not long str. Melandmed up and started saying all kinds of nonsense to mess with her

Hathaway refused to agree, no matter what.

“Your father’s presence is everywhere in this house. I can’t handle it yet. Hathaway, can you give Hathaway’s hand.

“Celeste has already agreed. I hope you can, too, and let me have a change of scenery for a while.

Sylvia couldn’t come to terms with losing her husband yet.

Her hair had turned much grayer overnight, and Hathaway felt a pang of heartbreak seeing her

Even though she resented how things were playing out exactly like her previous life, she still couldn’t defy her mother wishes.

“Alright, but I’m hiring you two strong attendants who’ll stick to you like glue.” Hathaway said. “And you have to promise me you won’t see Melanie. Don’t talk to her, not a single word.”

Sylvia smiled and agreed.

Celeste, standing nearby, said gently, “Sylvia, I’ll come see you every day.”

Sylvia patted Celeste’s hand. “With you and Hathaway keeping an eye on things at home, I feel at ease. Don’t worry about me. I’ll be back before you know it.”

Hathaway made a call and hired two strong attendants, the hospital arranged the transfer, and Sylvia settled into her new place at the sanatorium.

Just then, Lucas called, asking her to come over. A flicker of unease crossed Hathaway’s mind. He never reached out without a reason. Before she could ask why, the address popped up on her phone.

It was one of Bayridge’s most exclusive private villa districts. one glance, and she instantly thought of Jeremiah’s billion- dollar mansion.

Lucas’s voice on the phone was calm, almost cold. “Come over. I heard Mrs. Whitmore’s in the hospital. You don’t want to upset her, do you?”

Hathaway really didn’t want to upset her mom, so she got in the car and headed to the address.

The car wound its way into the most secret part of the city, surrounded by lush greenery and secure gates Hathaway had no idea a place like this existed in Bayridge.

This was the brand-new estate Jeremiah had bought for their wedding.

Inside, renovations were still underway. The faint buzz of drills and hammering echoed through the walls.

Out in the courtyard, a fresh pool of water had been dug, where goldfish drifted lazily, their red and goid colors making the whole place feel more tranquil.

Chapter 99

Jessica was fussing with a few pots of flowers, while Lucas and Elaine stood nearby wing for he

Lucas glanced at her as she walked in and said, “Time to apologize.”

When Hathaway didn’t say anything, Lucas started to get annoyed. “Hadrian and his wife already said sorry foryn, b you’re the one who actually messed up.

Jeremiah isn’t here yet, so you’d better apologize now while you still can

Hathaway shot back. “And what if I don’t apologize?”

“Whatever, Jessica muttered, bored out of her mind. Lucas had been so sure Hathaway would show up and apologize she’d waited around.

But seeing Hathaway act so stubborn, refusing to back down as always, Jessica was honestly sick of it. “Hathaway, go Elaine immediately spoke up, her voice sharp. Jessica, you can’t let her walk away! She splashed wine all over you in front of everyone. How can you swallow that? She absolutely has to apologize!”

Lucas stepped forward and gripped Hathaway’s wrist so hard it felt like he might crush it.

He leaned in, his voice low and dangerous. “Hathaway, do you always have to be so confrontational with Jessica? What did I tell you last time?

“I told you not to go up against her, but you let it go in one car and out the other, huh?”

He paused, his eyes swept across the courtyard, his voice icy. Tm giving you one last chance before Jeremiah gets back

Hathaway’s heart clenched. She tried to pull away, but Lucas’s grip on her wrist suddenly became crushing, his strength brutal.

The next second, he kicked her straight into the pool.

A huge splash erupted as the freezing water engulfed her. The goldfish scattered in panic, and the water kept rippling. refusing to calm down.

Elaine laughed hysterically as she watched Hathaway plunge into the pool.

Lucas towered over her, his voice icy. “Stay down there and soak. Get a good taste of the water, and when you finally admit you were wrong, then you can come up. Maybe we’ll forgive you then.”

Lucas knew she was hopeless in the water.

Hathaway had tried to learn a few times, but she’d always end up splashing around, and Jeremiah would have to jump in and pull her out every single time, which was why he always assumed she couldn’t swim.

But as Hathaway sank beneath the water, she didn’t panic, not a single struggle. The surface went eerily still.

She never resurfaced.

There was not a sound, not a single plea for help.

Lucas felt something was off, his brows furrowing as he called out. “Hathaway?”

It was as if Hathaway had vanished beneath the surface, not a ripple or a cry for help.

“Hathaway?” Lucas’s voice shot up in panic as he kicked off his shoes, ready to dive in after her

With a splash, Hathaway, soaked and looking frail, climbed up onto the opposite bank.

stunned. “You actually know how to swim

Jessica’s face shified as something suddenly dawned on her

Lucas and the others were convinced Hathaway couldn’t swim

But she actually could.

And that night, she’d saved Jeremiah with her strong swimming

If Jeremiah saw her now, would he realize she was the one who saved him that night? That would be a disaster, Ha thought

Hathaway’s long hair clung to her neck, water streaming down her jawline. She wiped her face, then fixed Lucas with a cat unflinching stare, her eyes icy.

As soon as she hit the shore, she spun around and bolted.

Lucas rushed around the pool, trying to catch up to Hathaway and explain, I only did this for your own good! If jeremiah shows up…”

But Lucas suddenly stopped in his tracks, eyes wide as Hathaway almost barreled right into a tall silhouette.

Hathaway caught herself, dripping wet, while Jeremiah instinctively stepped back. They missed crashing into each other.

Jeremiah was clad in a black windbreaker, his tall, sharp figure radiating an intimidating chill. The pressure in the air was intense.

“What are you doing?” he said.

Hathaway shivered, soaked to the skin and freezing. Her dress hugged her body, showing off her curves as she looked completely wrecked.

No one could tell if the wetness on her face was from the water or from tears. Water streaked down her long legs, making her look strangely alluring in her messy state.

Jeremiah stared at her, so messed up and drenched that he almost didn’t recognize her.

She was Conrad’s precious daughter.
