The Billionaire Regretted Losing His Invisible Wife novel Chapter 226

I miss you. All three of you.

I hesitated, then typed: We miss you too.

His response was simple but filled with meaning: Tomorrow?

Yes, I replied, knowing there was no need to elaborate. We’d fallen into a comfortable rhythm, Thomas and L. He knew where he fit in our lives. He’d never tried to replace Kyle, never pretended to be anything but himself.

Could I imagine a future with him? Yes.

Did that future include more children? I didn’t know.

I rose carefully, not wanting to wake the boys. As I turned off their night light, leaving only the faint glow of their planetarium projector creating stars on their ceiling, I thought about what Scarlett had said.

Thomas had been in love with me since college. All those years, watching me with Kyle, never saying a word. The thought filled me with a strange mixture of sadness and warmth. How different might things have been if I’d known sooner? If Kyle had never entered the picture?

But then I wouldn’t have Alexander and Ethan. And that was unimaginable.

In the hallway, I paused at the collection of framed photos on the wall. The boys as newborns, tiny and fragile in the NICU. Their first birthday, faces smeared with cake. Their third, playing with Gas in Central Park. A recent one of all three of us with Thomas at the Natural History Museum, the twins excitedly pointing at a dinosaur skeleton while Thomas explained something with animated hands.

My phone buzzed again.

Good. Sleep well, Mia.

You too, Thomas.
