Billionaire massaged his brows, his temples pounding from everything racing through his mind. He stole a glance at Haji beside him, then looked over his shoulder to catch a glimpse of Lola.
A second later, he let out a deep exhale.
"Fine," he said, turning to Haji with his hands raised in surrender. "But you have to make sure no one mentions me, this place, or my boat."
Because if this mission failed, Billionaire knew he would die as well. After all, he was the one taking the crew into the territory. Actually, success or failure didn’t matter — his neck was already on the chopping block if anyone in Ravah discovered his connection to this mission.
"They would skin me alive," he muttered bitterly. "And if that happens, you’re the first one I’m haunting when I turn into a ghost. I’ll be a vengeful one, Haha. The kind you see in the movies."
"You got my word." Haji raised his fist between them. "These guys are trained... not to talk. But—"
Haji leaned closer and slid his eyes sideways. "There is one among us who’s known to be a big mouth. If anyone ever finds out about you, don’t rest in peace. Haunt him to death. He’s got freckles, messy hair, and weird-looking eyes."
The crew behind them stood around waiting. Chuck — who had managed to change clothes during one of the drop-offs — checked the time and frowned.
"They’ve been talking for minutes now," he hissed irritably, unaware he was being targeted again. "What’s the hold-up?"
He wasn’t the only one. Several others were already frowning. They had no idea what Haji and Billionaire were whispering about — or whether they should be worried.
"Haji."
Lola’s voice rang out.
Both Haji and Billionaire flinched and turned toward her with identical sour expressions. Neither spoke upon catching Lola’s expression. They exchanged a look, nodded once, and then faced the squad.
"Hello, fellows!" Billionaire waved with a forced smile. "Going to the territory?"
No one responded.
"Sure, sure! Haha!" he laughed awkwardly. "Just so you know, that place is what you’d call hell on Earth. Literally. But don’t worry! You guys will go there just fine. Anyway, just call me Billionaire, the guy saving the day today!"
He paused, but still, no reaction.
"Let’s go, aye?" He smiled again, awkwardly, then shot Haji a strange look. Haji only shrugged as Billionaire turned away.
Haji lifted his brows briefly and tipped his head toward the group. "Let’s go."
With that, he followed Billionaire, and the rest of the team moved after them. Though not without some quiet side comments.
"Billionaire?" Chuck snorted. "What a weird name. Did his parents hate him?"
Baby glanced sharply in Chuck’s direction. Chuck cleared his throat and immediately shut up.
"Talk about manifesting," Slater commented as he walked between Lola and Atlas. "Does he have siblings? Millionaire and Trillionaire?"
Lola scrunched her nose and shot Slater a side-eye before turning to Atlas.
"Baby... are we really taking him with us?" she whispered.
Atlas replied flatly, "He’s already here."
The others, meanwhile, remained fascinated by Billionaire’s name. They had never met anyone with such a name before — and oddly enough, it was memorable.
"That’s the poorest billionaire I’ve ever seen," Scarlet muttered under her breath, not lingering on it. She just wanted the mission done and to return to the Order. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎
Only then would she feel reassured that the Order wouldn’t fall. At least... not yet.
"All sides are guarded now," Billionaire added calmly. "We’ll distract some of them, but time will be tight. You’ll need to move fast."
His voice lingered in their minds as everyone nodded.
Billionaire took a shallow breath and smiled faintly. "May you all come back alive," he said, almost like a curse. "That’d be a world record — entering Ravah and leaving with everyone alive."
The air instantly went still at his remarks. However, none of them spoke a word in retort because it was the truth.
Billionaire’s smile faded slightly as he turned toward the approaching boats on the water.
Several boats were coming in, larger than expected, but eerily quiet. Everyone’s brows knitted as they just stared at the quiet water vehicles approaching.
Initially, they planned to row a boat near the territory and swim. After all, they had to approach and leave the place as quietly as possible. And if lucky, they planned to never let anyone know they had been there.
"Look at that," Billionaire said proudly. "My crew and I just happened to finish those the moment you called."
He turned back to them, grinning. "That baby saves you a few hours of rowing. Hope your pockets are deep enough for the extra fees."
Atlas studied the boats and nodded.
"They are," he replied dryly. "So deep you can see Satan at the bottom."
Everyone’s head whipped at Atlas, eyes a little huge. This was the first time they heard the guy brag... or try to add some humor in his remarks. Even though what he said was true, it was a dreadful joke to hear.
Why?
Because the guy never made any jokes — never.
