The Billionaire Twins Need A New Mommy! novel Chapter 538

Chapter 538: The Language They Speak

One of the things the other members of Lola’s team managed to do—which also explained why they took so long—was securing a transport vehicle to take them elsewhere. Lola had requested this, even though they were already planning to use the underground routes.

Once they hitched a ride in a small truck filled with vegetables, Pika turned to Lola.

"Madam, I hate to interrupt, but shouldn’t we use the..." He trailed off, leaning closer to whisper to her. "...the underground tunnels?"

The underground tunnels were the safest route, considering Lola and Haji already knew them well. They could easily avoid the traps hidden within. Nowhere during the planning stage had it been mentioned that they’d travel aboveground—except for the Bellemonte operatives.

"But taking the surface is the fastest," Lola explained. "The underground is the safest, but not the fastest."

Izu pressed his lips into a thin line. They already knew that. Compared to traveling on foot, even this worn and aging vehicle was faster.

Even so...

"Madam," Izu let out a deep exhale. "Aren’t we being a little too reckless?"

"Reckless?"

"Since we exited the first tunnel and entered this town, it feels like we’re no longer following the original plan we discussed," he said politely, making both Pika and the other member turn to Lola.

They had all noticed it, but only Izu voiced it.

"You’re not trying to get us killed, are you?" the other member asked bluntly. At this point, he preferred honesty more than anything.

Lola rocked her head slightly as she glanced at the men watching her, all wearing the same expectant expression.

"I’m not changing the plan," she said. "We entered this town and are still searching for the guys."

As she spoke, Lola unstrapped the small bag clinging to her body and handed it to Pika, giving him a knowing look.

"Focus on reestablishing communication with the other groups," she ordered. "If the Bellemonte team hasn’t been caught, they should be done setting up the signal cells any moment now."

As those words left her lips, she rose to her feet. Everyone looked up at her, brows knitting together.

"Madam," Izu called. "Why are you... standing?"

Lola smiled at them. "Because my husband is a terrible liar," she said, slapping the hood near the front of the truck to get the driver’s attention.

"I’m getting off here."

The truck slowed but didn’t come to a complete stop. Izu immediately stood as well.

"Madam, you can’t go off on your own," he said, gripping her arm tightly. "What are you thinking?"

"Izu, follow the plan," she replied calmly. "The driver already knows where to take you. It’ll lead to a brothel with a frog. This truck will keep going, and you’ll reach it on time."

She pried his fingers off her arm, meeting his gaze. "As for me... I have a different plan."

"Madam!" Pika panicked. "You can’t—the master will kill us!"

"No, he won’t," Lola smirked. "If I die, he’ll hang himself right then and there. That’s how obsessed he is with me. He can’t live without me."

If Silo were here, he would already be fuming at her nonsense in a situation like this.

"Anyway," she continued, "the instructions I gave all of you are absolute. But they don’t apply to me."

Her eyes swept over their horrified faces before she shrugged casually.

Because no matter how benevolent Atlas was as a leader, he had never shied away from cruelty.

That punishment had existed before.

And it still did.

"Trust me," Izu’s voice trembled. "If anyone wants to jump out right now, it’s me. But she entrusted the rescue mission to us. Let’s not let her down."

He paused, drawing in a deep breath. "Let’s finish it quickly. Then we go back for her."

Pika’s face drained even further, while the other man’s expression darkened.

The silence weighed heavily on them, but none of them moved. Slowly, they turned their heads toward the road where Lola had jumped off.

The truck had already gone far ahead. So, she was now no more than a speck.

But then, headlights appeared in the distance, making their way to where Lola was.

"An enemy?" the other member blurted out. "Were we being followed?"

Izu swallowed hard, his fist trembling as he stared at the approaching vehicle, and at Lola’s small figure standing calmly in the middle of the road.

"We weren’t being followed," he whispered, placing a lifetime of trust in Lola’s hands. "She made them follow us."

And only then did Pika and Izu truly understand what Lola meant when she said everything in Ravah spoke through hints and codes—

A language she was frighteningly fluent in.
