The Billionaire Twins Need A New Mommy! novel Chapter 556

Chapter 556: Son Of A-

"Shoot it!"

The boss and his lackey gulped, their eyes dilating as they watched the man at the back of the truck point his gun at the person lying underneath the pile. Their minds raced, knowing that Lola was back there—playing dead.

This was exactly what they meant when they said it wouldn’t work.

Because it wouldn’t.

And then—

BANG!

The loud gunshot echoed through the air, followed by the shrill screech of tires. The man standing outside the truck, the men around it, the ones farther ahead, and even the man at the back of the truck, froze.

All of them turned toward the sound, only to see a car veering off the road with a violent screech.

The man doing the questioning clenched his teeth.

"Follow him!" he shouted.

At the same time, most of the men sprang into motion. He didn’t even stay to question the boss, instead jumping into one of the cars that had pulled over beside him.

The man at the back of the truck also jumped away, completely ignoring the body beneath the pile, unaware that she was very much alive.

"Move!" one of the men slapped the side of the truck and barked. "Go!"

Without hesitation, the boss slammed his foot on the pedal and drove off as fast as he could. As he did, he watched the chaos behind them through the side mirror.

His lackey, riding shotgun, twisted fully around, mouth hanging open as the car behind them passed through the checkpoint without being questioned at all.

"Shit..." the lackey nearly melted into his seat, slumping sideways. He pressed his head into his hand, his complexion draining.

Meanwhile, at the back of the truck, the "dead" body beneath the filthy pile stirred.

Then Lola’s head popped out.

"Damn," she grimaced, staring at the mess. "This smells rotten."

She nearly gagged, but then her attention shifted to the chaos behind them. A smirk curled across her lips as she watched the car tailing them. Through the windshield, she saw the two Bellemonte men—driver and shotgun—glancing back at her with sharp focus. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖

"Heh," she muttered, lips curling. "Didn’t I say the second time’s easier than the first?"

Earlier, Lola had come up with a plan.

That plan required good acting and silent execution. She would have done everything herself if not for the fact that she still had other things to deal with and didn’t want unnecessary interference.

So she gave the Bellemonte captives two instructions.

First, one of them was to get off the truck and quietly approach the car directly behind them. They were to convince the people inside to let them in. If talking didn’t work, they were to knock them out. Faster that way.

Second, once they gained control of that vehicle, they were to take control of another car a few meters behind it. Same rules applied—either convince the occupants to leave or knock them out.

If successful, they were to wedge something into the pedal and steering mechanism, then secure it so that once the car started moving, the object would press the pedal and cause the vehicle to veer off the road.

That way, it would create the illusion of someone trying to flee.

That was exactly what the Bellemonte men did.

Lola didn’t care how they accomplished it—whether they knocked people out or convinced them to abandon their vehicles. What mattered was that they avoided the worst outcome.

And it worked.

Like sharks smelling blood, the checkpoint guards were instantly distracted. Cars were waved through with barely a glance.

As for why none of the people in the surrounding vehicles spoke up when they witnessed the plan unfolding, Lola had a simple explanation.

In Ravah, minding your own business was the safest choice.

Besides, many of them had already seen cars pulled over with corpses inside. Anyone could be next.
