The Billionaire Twins Need A New Mommy! novel Chapter 673

Chapter 673: Heck, no! That wasn’t me!

Once Chuck climbed his way to the roof and crawled toward the tip, he focused on finding proper balance until he was comfortable. From this vantage point, his view of the city expanded exponentially. He adjusted the scope once, then swapped the magazine, loading bullets suited for longer distances.

Satisfied with the new setup, he closed one eye and peered through the scope with the other. He didn’t shoot anyone yet. Instead, he studied the farthest areas of the city, gauging the situation and carefully assessing the wind’s direction.

Aside from the fighting, he noticed a group making their way out of the city. Based on what he could see, they were refugees trying to escape the battlefield. He also spotted Pika running around below, and Chuck instinctively provided cover. After all, Pika had no idea he was about to turn into an area where enemies were hiding.

Izu and Tyga also appeared in his scope, but Chuck didn’t bother focusing on them. They were holding their own just fine.

While everyone was busy on the ground, none of them knew that at the highest peak of the city’s largest church, a sniper lay in wait.

Then, as Chuck widened his watch, he noticed the chase.

"So, that’s her?" he muttered. From this distance, his view of Lola picking up a child’s bike was limited, but he could still piece together what was happening.

Following the trail, he tracked the chase. It was far—farther than ideal—but still not a problem. Chuck wouldn’t be considered the best if distance were enough to stop him.

He kept his attention on the pursuit, knowing only Scarlet and Haji were involved. Soon enough, his interest shifted when he saw Lola get picked up by Billionaire, curious about how things would unfold.

Juggling between providing cover for those nearby and monitoring Scarlet and Haji, his focus eventually narrowed to Haji and Jarvis. Of course, he lost visual contact once Haji infiltrated the building.

Chuck waited, spotting a helicopter stationed on the rooftop. In his mind, he was already prepared—if Jarvis escaped, he would shoot him. But that wasn’t how things played out.

Instead of movement on the roof, Chuck saw motion inside the building. He couldn’t see the emergency stairwell clearly, but through the glass walls—despite the poor lighting—he caught silhouettes moving inside.

"Uh..." Chuck cleared his throat, waiting. He wasn’t sure whether it was Jarvis, Haji, or someone else entirely. "I can’t get a clearer view."

This time, he kept his focus locked on that building.

A moment later, another figure jumped onto the same floor. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖

"Stupid—" his breath hitched when he saw the second figure leap in, unaware that the first was already hiding.

Chuck’s shoulders tensed as he concentrated on the two figures. He wasn’t sure who was who, and he was trying to figure it out on the spot.

Seconds passed. Then, the hidden figure raised what looked like a pistol. The second person froze, a gun pressed to the back of his head.

"Come on..." Chuck muttered, waiting for the one holding the pistol to step out of the shadows. "Let me see who’s who."

If Chuck were a few towns closer, he was sure he’d recognize the silhouettes. But he was positioned deep in the main city, providing cover from an extreme distance—something only professionals like him could pull off.

The first person didn’t fully step out of the shadows, but he moved closer, revealing the length of his arm.

"..." Chuck’s focus sharpened as his gaze darted between the two. "Heh. I’m so damn smart... that guy should thank me—no, worship me for saving his ass!"

Shrugging, he continued watching as Scarlet pulled Haji back inside. After a full minute of struggling, both of them rolled back into the building. Chuck nodded in approval.

"Well, that ends that arrogant bastard," he hissed, for once sharing the same sentiment as the rest of his team. He might’ve disliked most of them—except Scarlet—but he hated Jarvis even more.

There was just something about that man that truly irked him.

Before letting it go, Chuck peered through the scope one last time, focusing on where Jarvis’s body had fallen.

"I kind of want to shoot him at least once," he whispered, genuinely considering it.

"So?" Scarlet asked coldly as she dragged Chuck out of the cafeteria and into Haji’s temporary quarters. "Did you shoot Jarvis?"

Haji, standing frozen near the bathroom door with only a towel wrapped around his waist, stared at the two uninvited guests in his room.

Then Chuck shouted, "Heck no! That wasn’t me!"
