"We’re back..." Penny trailed off as she saw everyone seated around the table. She pursed her lips when she noticed them glancing in their direction.

Hugo, standing behind her, huffed quietly as they both walked in.

"We managed to defend the territory, but we’ve suffered significant losses. We’re still checking who was taken with them. Madam is one for sure, Miss Kiara, and Henrik’s son," Pika continued reporting what had happened at the Order. "Sir Allen and Sybil are also missing, so we’re assuming they were taken as well."

According to Pika, an anesthetic smoke had spread throughout the Order that night. It wasn’t instantaneous, so no one noticed it immediately. Its effects were subtle at first — nothing more than drowsiness or sluggishness. But it weakened their forces by half.

Fortunately, some realized what was happening before they fully fell into the trap.

"We’re still investigating the matter, sir. But from what we’ve uncovered so far, these people seemed to know the Order would likely be weaker since many of the main forces weren’t here," Pika continued. "It was a deliberate attack carried out by the Bellemonte Family."

Atlas’s brows knitted. "The Bellemonte? How are you sure it’s them?"

"Yes, sir." Pika didn’t hesitate. "The chopper they used was manufactured by a company under the Bellemonte family."

"That’s fast," Finn muttered under his breath, slightly taken aback by how quickly the Order had identified the attackers.

"I’m sending you the reports and the list of those who were here," Pika said again, his voice stern and resolute. "Let us know your orders."

Atlas pinched the bridge of his nose and closed his eyes. "Gather everyone first and focus on the injured. Then, try contacting Izu’s team and Scarlet about their situation. They haven’t reached out yet."

"Yes, sir."

With that, the call ended, leaving the room in heavy silence.

Penny and Hugo had arrived slightly late, but from the brief exchange between Atlas and Pika, they already understood the situation.

The Order had been attacked.

And it seemed the attackers had no intention of destroying the entire Order — that would’ve been impossible. They came with a specific goal, gambled for it, and won this round.

They got who they came for.

"The twins," Penny spoke up suddenly. "I didn’t hear that they were taken."

"It seems First Sister secured them first," Zoren explained quietly, unsure whether they even deserved to feel relief. "The person First Brother spoke to said they’ve already contacted the group that was with the twins. They’re safe. Renny and Chunchun too."

Penny let out a breath, her shoulders sagging slightly. She glanced around. "The Bellemonte... aren’t they one of the founding families? Wait — didn’t you mention the head of their family was attacked and is currently under the Order’s protection?"

"Thanks to the Order, he’s safe as well," Slater remarked grimly. "It’s probably why they resorted to taking his son."

To put it simply, the attackers had entered the Order with one goal — to take Lola, the twins, and likely Henrik. But since Lola secured her children first and the Order managed to rescue the unconscious Henrik, they had switched to their second plan.

Otherwise, there was no way those people would’ve left the Order alive after the chaos they caused on their territory.

Lola wouldn’t have lowered her weapon if they hadn’t taken Kiara and Henrik’s son. And since Lola was Atlas’s weakness, they would use her as leverage. If Henrik woke up, he too would fall to his knees for his son.

These hostages were leashes around their necks.

"Iris Bellemonte," Atlas breathed, his grip on the edge of the chair tight and trembling. He had sat down to calm himself, but nothing had worked.

The storm in his chest was too violent — even for someone who had trained for years to control it. His head throbbed, and the only thing keeping him from exploding was the knowledge that his children were safe.
