Scarlet clenched her teeth and sprinted away, repeatedly tapping her earpiece in an attempt to reach anyone.

"Anyone!" she shouted through gritted teeth. "Come on — answer me!"

"That psycho of a cardinal is going to bury everyone here alive with him!" she growled. But no one responded. She quickened her pace, blaming the poor connection on Vito’s insistence that they all stay close together.

Meanwhile, the Reverend Mother watched Scarlet run off after asking for the bomb locations. She wasn’t certain whether they could do anything about it, but she hoped they would manage somehow.

"Although... I wish they would simply leave and save themselves," she whispered, releasing a shallow breath. "And let the cardinal... and all of us take responsibility for all of this."

Slowly, she lifted her gaze to the old buildings that had stood for over a hundred years. Sadness flickered in her eyes before she looked away.

The Reverend Mother closed her eyes and inhaled deeply, catching the faint scent of gunpowder lingering in the air.

"Father," she murmured, clasping her hands together in prayer, "may You forgive the cardinal for all he has done."

"This place is huge," he replied, resting his hands on his hips. "If everyone gathered somewhere else, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s empty."

"And yet, there’s no movement outside," Yuri remarked as she approached a hallway window and looked out. "Not a single person."

"I think we’re looking in the wrong place — ah!"

Both Haji and Yuri winced as their earpieces screeched with feedback.

"Hey!!" Scarlet’s voice suddenly blasted into their ears. "Can someone hear me now?!"

"I’ll check the other site," she added between heavy breaths. "If you manage to contact the others, inform them. There are three major bombs. The largest one is where the meeting is taking place."
