Chapter 798: May God Bless Us All

"Bad news! There’s a bomb — lots of them!"

Everyone’s brows knitted as Scarlet struggled to catch her breath. For a second, silence followed her words before she straightened.

Gulping another breath, her racing heart slowly stabilized.

"I just talked to someone, and they told me about the cardinal’s plans," she continued hurriedly, yet clearly. "He’s going to blow this place to pieces with everyone in it. Haji and Yuri already went to one of the main plants and confirmed there are some sort of high-end, sophisticated explosives there."

Scarlet continued, relaying only the most important details.

But even then, Izu’s breath hitched the most.

Just moments ago, Lola had spoken about how unsettled she felt while dealing with the people of the church — and how she suspected the cardinal might have funded something else entirely.

And now, with what Scarlet had told them...

Lola was right.

The cardinal had sacrificed his soldiers for something far more destructive. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞

"Izu," Lola breathed, her eyes wide on Scarlet. "Tell everyone to prioritize locating the bombs and have them analyzed."

She picked up an earpiece and placed it in her ear before shifting her gaze to Allen.

"You and Scarlet will lead the team to defuse them," she instructed, before turning back to Izu. "As for you, come with me. We’re taking Atlas out of here."

"Yes, ma’am!"

"Order everyone to slowly retreat once they find Kiara and Henrik’s son, and send the others to where Atlas is," she ordered once more. "Move!"

With that, Lola stepped away, her eyes barely blinking as her heart pounded loudly against her ribs. Meanwhile, Izu followed while speaking into his earpiece, relaying instructions and requesting another unit to provide Allen with an earpiece so he could oversee each team’s progress.

As they moved, Allen kept his eyes on Lola’s retreating figure.

"Madam..." he whispered before noticing a man beside him offering an earpiece. "Thank you."

Placing it in his ear, he turned to Scarlet.

"Get Miss Scarlet another earpiece, then hurry to where Miss Yuri and Haji are."

Scarlet drew a deep breath and nodded, preparing to move with Allen. Now that their forces were already here, ensuring someone assisted Allen would greatly improve their survival rate.

Especially since Lola and Atlas weren’t present for this.

Scarlet was no longer in that position, but she had once been head of security operations. Situations like this were her forte.

But as she walked with Allen toward their communication hub, she suddenly stopped.

Allen took a few more steps before pausing. His brows furrowed as he turned back.

"Scarlet?" he called, noticing her eyes widen while her pupils constricted.

Her reaction was strange.

"Scarlet, what’s wrong?"

Slowly, Scarlet lifted her gaze.

"Allen," she breathed, her throat bobbing. "We don’t have time."

"Huh?"

"Yuri just said... we only have a few minutes. The timer already started."

At the same time, in the meeting room...

"Hah." The cardinal let out a short, dry laugh as he lowered his head. "I suppose it was foolish of me to think that if I chose this path, you would try to understand."

"Since you always bring your Phantom Circle with you, I ensured we were moved to a place where no outside forces could interfere."

There were vents — small enough to allow airflow but useless for external assistance.

"The only way in or out is through those doors," he said, nodding toward them. "And they are guarded by soldiers trained extensively in Ravah."

Draken snickered. "You still don’t get it, do you?"

"Cardinal, must we spell it out for you?" Marceline arched a brow. "With Atlas, Draken, and myself here — plus Henrik’s forces — your preparations are meaningless."

"Cardinal... please surrender," one of the elders urged sincerely. "We will intervene and request mercy from the founding families."

Marceline and Draken exchanged glances. Atlas’s last request to them was that the cardinal be kept alive and to avoid as much bloodshed within the holy grounds. He saw it was "disrespectful."

They didn’t want to agree, but they honored his request.

"Cardinal," Atlas spoke calmly, "we did not come here for blood. Our goal is your surrender."

"Haha..." the cardinal laughed again, clearly irritating Draken.

"This bastard..." Draken hissed. "You’re only putting your soldiers in danger. Do you really think they can stop our people from coming in here?"

"I never said they would win," the cardinal replied, slowly pulling something from his robe and placing it on the table.

Everyone frowned at the sight of an hourglass.

"Against the three of you, my soldiers stand no chance," he said, raising his other hand to reveal a small device — his thumb resting on a single red button.

"But they can buy me enough time for this hourglass to finish... and for this entire place to be blown into smithereens."

Everyone held their breath as their eyes widened while the cardinal smiled, saying,

"May God bless us all."
