Atlas and Lola had never been this happy to see Penny. But tonight, she made their night. No, not just their night, but their future.
After dropping that bomb, Penny happily pushed herself up and told them she would leave so as not to disturb their couple time.
"Goodness..." Lola let out a short breath as she lay beside him, the bed still inclined. She wiped the corners of her eyes and looked up to meet his gaze. "I don’t like Mother Reverend much, but... she’s like... a guardian angel."
"A guardian angel might be a stretch," Atlas let out a shallow chuckle, though he nodded. "But I’m grateful someone like her was around the cardinal."
Even if the thought that Lola had lost her children once tore her sanity apart and led her to Vito, they understood.
Back then, Lola didn’t have the capacity to protect her children against a massive force like the Church.
Atlas and his family, on the other hand, had the resources to protect the twins.
They also had to consider that Lawrence and Jasmine’s decision to force Lola to undergo sterilization might have come from their own reasons. However, it wouldn’t have been impossible for the cardinal to make her barren himself.
He was obsessed with Lola, after all.
Giving her birth control instead was something Roth and Mother Reverend were forced to do to protect Lola from another attempt by the cardinal.
"I’m just really happy." Tears brimmed in Lola’s eyes again as her voice choked. "I really thought... I really..."
Atlas pulled her into his embrace, letting her cry freely in his arms while he gently patted her back. His expression softened, his heart filled with quiet relief.
Perhaps... she really was like a guardian angel, he thought. And maybe a knight in shining armor too.
But then again, it wasn’t the Church that was evil.
It was the cardinal who had taken advantage of people’s faith and weaponized it for his own gain.
That was why the holy ground became what it was.
Which made the situation strange in its own way.
The Church was already against the secret society, but it was also fighting against itself.
"Me too," Atlas whispered as he continued patting her back. "I’m... very grateful for their help."
That night, Lola cried until she calmed down. Afterward, they talked about the preparations she needed to make.
One of them was checking whether the birth control had completely dissolved. If it was still there, she planned to have it removed.
Then, once Atlas fully recovered, they could try.
And try.
And try.
They already did it often anyway, and the twins were a little older now. Not to mention, the cardinal had fallen — their biggest and last enemy.
So it might be the perfect time for baby number three.

Days later...
"Daddy~!"
Atlas turned toward the door just as it burst open.
His children ran into the ward, bright smiles on their faces as their little legs carried them straight to him. They climbed onto the bed without hesitation.
"Daddy!" Chacha shouted as she sat beside him, beaming.
Second shouted the same while settling on his other side. "Daddy!"
Lola walked in after them with a light chuckle.
"I thought I should bring them here since everything’s almost settled."
Atlas smiled subtly at his wife.
But when he turned back to the twins, his smile froze ever so slightly.
Seeing his expression, Chacha and Second’s smiles faded.
Chacha thought nervously,
Why is Daddy looking at us like that? Did he find out I secretly ordered that I get to do his autopsy? And that I planned to make him a DNR so he could donate his organs?
Did he find out I changed his will to make Renny his heir?
