The Billionaire’s Fight For Redemption (Noah and Sierra) novel Chapter 279

“How are you here?” she asks, confusion lacing her voice.

Lilly explained everything when she called and asked me to check on Sierra. She told me she’d had someone keeping an eye on things from a distance because Sierra didn’t want her involved. The moment Lilly heard Sierra had been fired, worry took over.

“Lilly called me,” I explain. “She was tied up at the office, and I was working from home today, so she asked me to check on you.”

“And you did?” There’s surprise in her voice, and I can’t really blame her.

“Yes,” I reply just as the doorbell rings. “Stay here. I’ll be right back.”

I leave the room and open the door.

Dr. Martin has been our family doctor since the twins were born.

“Come in,” I say, stepping aside.

I close the door behind him and lead him down the hall to Sierra’s bedroom. She’s still propped against the headboard, eyes closed, but they open the moment she hears us.

“This is Dr. Martin,” I tell her. “He’s here to check on you.”

When she doesn’t argue, I excuse myself and leave them alone.

Once I’m back in the living room, I pull out my phone and make a call.

“Mr. Wood,” the voice answers immediately.

“I need you to check on someone for me,” I say, wasting no time. “Her name is Jocelyn. She works at Bio-Renew.”

“Anything specific you’re looking for?”

“Everything,” I reply flatly. “Every secret. Every dirty deed. Anything that can bury her? I want it all.”

“On it.”

I end the call and take a moment to breathe.

I know Lilly said Sierra wants to handle this on her own, but I’ll be damned if she does. She doesn’t need to know I helped but I’m also not going to sit back and do nothing. Especially now that her case has escalated.

I’m about to head down the hall when my phone vibrates again.

I answer, “Dad.”

“I need your help with something,” he says.

“I’m listening.”

“I just got a call from Bio-Renew. Sierra’s in trouble,” he says. “I need you to have your PI look into the accusations against her. I need proof she was set up and I need it fast.”

“You have your own PI, Dad.”

“Lopez is good, but he’s not Blaze” he admits, “Blaze is the only one I know who can dig that deep.”

They both turn to look at me.

“She’s fine, just had a little bit of a scare,” he says calmly. “Her blood pressure is a little high, though, but it should come down within a few hours.”

“And the baby?”

She was lucky she passed out on the couch, but I still need to know. Still need to make sure that they’re both okay.

“The baby is doing very well, and is quite healthy, ” he says with a reassuring smile.

Relief washes through me at the sound of that.

“Thank you, Doctor,” Sierra says as Martin packs up.

I walk him out, then return to the bedroom. I spot a small stool by the window, pull it over, and settle beside her bed.

“Is there anything you want?” I ask. “I can make you a quick snack.”

Her eyes narrow. “What are you doing, Noah?”

“Offering to make you something to eat?”

They narrow even more. “I meant here. Now… Shouldn’t you be leaving?”

“Not happening,” I say, getting comfortable. “I’m not leaving until Lilly gets here.”
