“If I remember correctly,” she says coolly, “you stopped me.”
“That’s because I didn’t want us to sleep together before I officially made you mine,” I reply. “And before I could do that, you told me to get out.”
She scoffs. “What did you expect? You basically rejected me and even after that, I gave you time. Time to say something, to explain yourself, to tell me why you refused me, but you said nothing.”
I sigh, the weight of it settling in my chest. “I was trying to figure out how to ask you. How to even approach the subject because I was afraid you didn’t feel the same.”
Sierra leans forward, anger simmering in her eyes. “Seriously? If I didn’t feel the same, would I have stuck by you all those months? Would I have endured the humiliation from you time and time again for years since we were kids?”
This time, I’m the one who scoffs because I know exactly why she pursued me back then and it wasn’t because she was deeply in love with me. Chloe told me the reason years ago.
“Wasn’t it because of my family’s wealth?” I ask, watching her closely, waiting to see what lie she’ll use this time.
Her mouth falls open and for a moment, she just stares at me like she can’t believe what I’ve said. Then her gaze hardens.
“You’re an idiot,” she snaps, teeth clenched. “I’ve met a lot of stupid people, but you, Noah, you top the fucking list.”
My anger simmers at the insult. “Isn’t it the truth? Didn’t you want me because of my family’s money?”
“First of all,” she fires back, “I didn’t need your wealth. My mom provided more than enough for me. And secondly, are you the only wealthy man in this state? In this universe?” She scoffs. “If I only wanted money, don’t you think I would’ve given up and found someone else?”
She leans forward, eyes blazing. “If I were vain, with my looks I could’ve had any man I wanted, Noah. I wouldn’t have waited years for you.”
I hear what she’s saying and it makes sense but Chloe told me she was only after what I could give her. ShE was her best friend so how could there be no truth in that?
“Chloe said—” I start, but she cuts me off.
“I don't give a fuck about what she said. That woman lied to get what she wanted,” she says sharply.
I ignore what she just said and finish, "She said you were only interested in me for wealth."
