“Let her in," someone answers for me.

I hear footsteps before the door closes and opens again. A few seconds later, someone walks in and only then do I look up.

A woman in her fifties walks into the room clutching a handbag tightly against her chest. She looks nervous. Terrified even.

I stare at her blankly, not recognizing her at all.

“How can we help you?” Juliette asks cautiously.

The woman takes a shaky breath before saying slowly, “My name is Harriette… I’m Casey’s aunt.”

Instantly the room tenses. Noah and Adrian move toward her protectively and fear flashes across her face immediately.

“I’m not here to cause trouble,” she says quickly. “I just… I have something to deliver.”

I lift my hand weakly stopping Noah and Adrian before looking back at her.

“What is it?”

Her trembling fingers reach into her bag before pulling out an envelope. Slowly she walks toward my bed and places it beside me before she steps back again.

“Casey made me promise to give this to you if-if…” Her voice breaks slightly. “If something happened to her.”

Tears fill her eyes before they fall down her face. Harriett sniffs before continuing.

“I learned what Casey did and I’m sorry for her part in your pain.”

I slowly pull my eyes from the envelope and look up at her. “Thank you… And I’m sorry for your loss.”

“I lost Casey… But at least I still have a piece of her," she whispers, her voice catching.

I stare at her in shock. “Her baby survived?”

A small emotional smile appears on her face. “Against all odd, he did.”

“I’m so glad to hear that,” I whisper honestly as relief floods through me. “I know how much she loved him.”

Harriett nods softly before quietly saying goodbye and leaving. The second the door closes, I rip the envelope open, my hands shaking as I unfold the letter.
