The Billionaire's Heir I Never Knew Was Mine novel Chapter 122

Chapter 122: Can I Get Out Of Here?

Sienna’s thumb hovered over Zachary’s phone number.

Even now, remembering his true identity still felt strange. The gentleman who kept appearing in her life turned out to be far more powerful than she had originally thought. He is not just Zach but Zachary Sterling. The very thought makes her feel worried.

’Should I call him?’ she thought, but hurriedly put the thought aside. ’Absolutely not.’

She quickly refused the idea.

What would he think if he knew that she was currently in the police station as a murder suspect? He might look at her with utter disappointment or even disgust.

Sienna immediately shook her head. "No! No!" she whispered weakly to herself. "I can’t bother him now."

Slowly, her thumb moved away from his name. But somehow, that only made her chest ache more. Because deep inside, she knew Zachary was probably the only person who would actually come if she called.

Slowly, her entire body suddenly felt heavy and weak. Completely drained. Her hand holding the phone dropped onto her lap.

Sienna lowered her head, staring blankly at the dark screen.

After another minute, the tears she had been desperately holding back finally escaped. One drop slid down her cheek. Then another. And another.

She cried silently, too exhausted to even make a sound anymore.

After what felt like another endless stretch of silence, Sienna finally heard the sound of footsteps approaching her.

"Miss Adams—"

The police officer’s voice startled her.

She lifted her head and quickly wiped tears before looking at the officer.

Her cheeks still felt damp. She hated crying in front of people. Especially here in front of police officers who already looked at her like she was guilty.

"Y-Yes?" she answered softly.

The officer stepped farther into the room and stood near her, his expression tired and impatient. Dark circles under his eyes indicated he had likely been working since yesterday afternoon. She could see that this man no longer had the energy to comfort a crying woman in an interrogation room at almost midnight.

"Did you manage to call your lawyer?" he asked directly.

The question made her chest ache almost instantly.

She lowered her gaze toward her trembling hands resting in her lap. For a moment, she couldn’t answer him. Her throat felt painfully tight again.

Slowly, she shook her head.

The officer frowned slightly. "How about your family or friends?" he asked again.

Sienna pressed her lips together before speaking quietly.

"No," she whispered weakly. "They seem to sleep now."

The officer gave a slight nod, though his expression did not soften much. He looked as if he had already expected that answer.

"Alright," he said shortly before turning around as if preparing to leave again.

The moment she realized he was about to walk out, panic immediately spread through Sienna’s chest. "Sir, please wait."

She hurriedly pushed herself up from the chair. But the moment she stood, her knees instantly weakened beneath her.

Hours spent sitting in the cold, cramped room, combined with exhaustion, stress, hunger, and lack of sleep, had drained her of too much strength. Her legs suddenly felt numb, and her vision spun.

"Aaahh—"

She nearly collapsed forward if her hand had not quickly grabbed the edge of the metal table.

"Miss Adams!"

The officer quickly approached her, visibly alarmed.

"Are you alright?"
