A knock sound barely reached Sienna’s sleeping mind.
Then came another knock.
"Miss Adams."
A distant voice followed.
Sienna frowned slightly in her sleep.
"Miss Adams."
This time, the voice sounded clearer and closer.
Slowly, her eyes fluttered open.
The bright white light above immediately made her squint painfully. Her neck ached terribly from sleeping in such an awkward position, and her entire body felt stiff and heavy.
She looked up. For a few seconds, while trying to adjust her vision, she noticed two men standing in front of her.
One was the same police officer from earlier. And the other, a man wearing a dark, expensive-looking suit with a fashionably matching tie.
Sienna blinked repeatedly before quickly sitting up straighter.
Her hair had become messy from sleeping against the table, so she hurriedly pushed it back behind her ears.
"Yes, sir?" she asked hoarsely.
The officer stepped slightly aside. "This man requested to speak with you. He said he’s a lawyer."
Then he gestured toward the suited man, who moved forward with an undeniably calm and confident demeanor and sat across from her.
Sienna stared at the stranger carefully.
He looked middle-aged, perhaps in his early fifties. He wore glasses and carried an expensive leather briefcase neatly in one hand. His suit was perfectly pressed. Even if the cop didn’t say who he was, she could tell he was a lawyer.
But she had never seen him before. Why did he suddenly want to meet her?
’Did Ava send him to help me?’ she wonders, remembering the text she sent to Ava earlier about her situation.
"Excuse me... Who are you?" She asked hesitantly.
Instead of answering her right away, he offered her a polite smile before adjusting his glasses.
"Miss Adams," he began calmly, "allow me to introduce myself. I am attorney Mr. Benjamin Foster—"
The moment that name entered her ears, Sienna felt her stomach tighten violently.
’Benjamin Foster...’ Her fingers slowly curled tightly against her lap beneath the table.
She stared at the man in silence, confusion and uneasiness growing inside her chest.
’Why would Benjamin’s lawyer see me?’
The man sat across from her and calmly opened his briefcase as he continued speaking. "I’m simply here to convey my client’s kindness toward you."
His words were enough to further confuse her.
"What do you mean?" Sienna asked carefully.
The lawyer removed a thick file from the briefcase and placed it neatly on the table between them.
"My client has decided to be generous despite his current condition," he explained smoothly. "He is willing to forgive you and withdraw the police report."
Sienna’s heartbeat instantly quickened.
