The Billionaire's Heir I Never Knew Was Mine novel Chapter 145

Chapter 145: Dinner

After Ava and Riley finally left, the apartment became strangely quiet again.

Sienna slowly walked toward her bedroom.

But the silence did not last long.

The moment she entered the room, a sudden buzzing sound broke through the quiet.

Her attention immediately shifted to the study table, her cell phone.

Quickly, she walked over and picked it up.

The moment she saw Zachary’s name on the screen, her thoughts immediately returned to the proposal he had given her. The proposal she still had not answered.

Just remembering it was enough to make her heart beat strangely once more.

"Hello, Zach..."

Sienna greeted him softly, trying her best to sound normal.

Unfortunately, sounding normal was much harder than she expected.

"Sienna, are your friends still there?"

His voice was calm and quiet. However, she could hear faint voices and conversations in the background, making it sound as though he was still busy handling work somewhere.

"No. They just left."

There was a brief pause on the other end.

Then Zachary spoke again.

"It’s almost three."

For some reason, his voice sounded more concerned than before.

"I remember your doctor said you need more rest."

A small smile slowly appeared on Sienna’s lips.

Without realizing it, she turned her head toward the bed.

She had actually been planning to take a nap already. His phone call had simply arrived first and failed her plan.

"Hmm," she replied softly. "I know. I’m so sleepy right now."

"Good." His answer came immediately.

The simple response somehow made her smile grow wider. "You sound relieved."

"I am. I’ve been worrying about you since yesterday."

Her heart skipped a beat at his words. His words were simple. Yet they carried a weight she could not ignore.

For a brief moment, she found herself unable to answer. No one had ever spoken to her like that before. Not with that kind of concern and honesty.

The silence stretched between them.

"Don’t worry about me, Zach... I’m okay now," she said softly.

"Good, but you still need more rest."

His words instantly made a warm feeling spread through her chest. Talking to him like this felt strangely comfortable, as if they had known each other for much longer than a few weeks.

"Alright, get some sleep..." His gentle voice returns. "Have a good rest. I’ll come before dinner."

Sienna immediately looked at her bed again, feeling sleepy, but the moment she heard his last sentence, her heartbeat instantly sped up.

Before dinner? Which meant she would see him again in a few hours.

Which also meant...

The answer she had been avoiding could not be avoided much longer.

"Okay," she replied quietly.

Without wasting another second, she hurried out of bed and rushed toward the intercom panel.

The moment the screen lit up, she saw Zachary standing there, waiting. A rush of excitement swept through her.

Quickly, she allowed him inside the building before she ran toward the bathroom.

A few minutes later, after changing into comfortable home clothes and making herself look at least somewhat presentable, she stepped back into the living room.

Then the doorbell rang.

Sienna stood in her place for a few seconds, looking at the door, before she walked quickly to open it.

When the door opened, Sienna was surprised to find that Zachary was not alone.

Standing behind him was Logan, carrying several bags in both hands.

For a brief moment, her gaze lingered on the bags before she stepped aside to allow them inside.

Zachary entered first, while Logan followed behind him. Sienna then turned and walked toward the living room, aware of Zachary’s presence as he followed closely after her.

The apartment suddenly felt much smaller than before.

"Just put it on the table and leave us," Zachary ordered calmly.

"Yes, sir—"

Sienna, who was standing beside Zachary, glanced at Logan before shifting her attention back to him. She wanted to ask what was inside the bags, but before she could say anything, Zachary seemed to read her thoughts.

"I brought us dinner," he explained softly. "So you don’t have to cook."

Sienna looked at him in surprise. After everything that had happened, she had completely forgotten about dinner.

A warm feeling slowly spread through her chest. He always seemed to think about things before she did.

Sienna lowered her gaze slightly and responded softly, "Thank you."

Zachary’s lips curled into a small, satisfied smile.
