The Billionaire's Heir I Never Knew Was Mine novel Chapter 176

Chapter 176: Do You Remember Me?

Logan’s jaw tightened slightly, but he didn’t respond immediately, as if weighing the seriousness of what Scott had just said.

"You can investigate it now before Zach finds out about this. Don’t worry about her... she’s in good hands now. I’ll ensure the surgery proceeds smoothly."

Logan nodded slowly.

"Thank you, Dr. Scott... I’ll leave my madam in your care. I need to make a call," he said. After a brief pause, he added more quietly, "...But, please don’t tell my master yet. He’s in an important meeting."

Scott gave a short nod in understanding. Logan turned and left the office, closing the door behind him.

Left alone, Scott released a quiet, heavy sigh. He stood still for a moment, collecting his thoughts before finally turning and heading toward the operating room, his focus now fully on Sienna and the procedure ahead.

...

The surgery went smoothly and was completed in less than an hour. By the time it was over, Sienna was sitting in the hospital’s luxurious, super-comfortable waiting room. She’s waiting for Logan to return and drive her home.

However, nearly five minutes had passed, yet there was still no sign of him. She tried calling his phone, only to discover that he was already on another call.

With a quiet sigh, she lowered her phone and leaned back against the sofa.

She wanted nothing more than to go home. Unfortunately, she couldn’t leave yet because she didn’t have her clothes. The hospital’s nice gown started to feel uncomfortable. Moreover, exhaustion was steadily taking over, and she really missed her bed.

Not long after, the door opened—

Scott walked into the waiting room. Stopping near her sofa, he offered her a friendly smile.

"Mrs. Sterling, it’s almost midnight. I’ve already arranged a VIP ward for you. You can stay here tonight and return home tomorrow morning."

"Scott," Her voice carrying the fatigue she could no longer hide, "please just call me Sienna."

Scott appeared to consider the request for a moment before a smile spread across his face.

"Because your husband is my bestest friend. I would be honored if you let me call you sister-in-law. Please?"

The title caught her by surprise. It sounded unfamiliar, especially coming from someone she barely knew. Still, she couldn’t deny that it felt strangely natural as well.

She didn’t answer with a word, only gave a small nod, accepting it, while maintaining her strained expression.

"I can’t stay here," she said. "I need to go home tonight."

The promise she had made to Skylar immediately came to mind. She had told him they would go to the park tomorrow, and she didn’t want to disappoint him. More importantly, if Zachary learned she had spent the evening in a hospital, there was a very real chance he would abandon his work and return immediately.

"Are you sure?" Scott asked. His gaze moved over her pale face with obvious concern. "You look exhausted."

"I’m fine."

Scott didn’t seem entirely convinced, but he eventually nodded.

"Alright. Just make sure you keep the wound dry, and come back here in a few days for a checkup. I want to make sure everything heals properly. Otherwise, your husband might end up complaining to me."

His agreement immediately eased some of the tension in her chest. She was relieved that he had finally stopped trying to persuade her to stay overnight. Yet as she sat there looking at him, another thought continued to linger in the back of her mind.

The more she listened to him speak, the more familiar he seemed.

When they had first met earlier, she hadn’t recognized him at all. But now, with every conversation, old memories become clearer. She couldn’t stop herself from wondering whether this was the same doctor who had interviewed her years ago. The same man who had decided whether she qualified for the surrogacy program.

The question had haunted her for years, and thinking about it inevitably led her to another one. ’How was the child now? Was he healthy? Was he happy?’

Then Scott’s voice interrupted her thoughts. "Sister-in-law?"
