The following Monday.
After taking a week off, Sienna finally returned to work at the Imperial Hotel.
She had been looking forward to this day. Although she had thoroughly enjoyed spending time with Zachary during their honeymoon, she had missed the familiar rhythm of work.
There was undoubtedly plenty of backlog and new tasks waiting for her, and she was determined to disentangle them, put them in order one by one, and settle back into her routine. She also planned to catch up with Mia and Ava after work, which made her first day back feel even more exciting.
"Good morning, Sienna!"
A cheerful voice greeted her the moment the elevator doors opened on the 11th floor.
Sienna looked up and smiled when she saw Sally waiting outside. Her assistant stood near the reception desk, waving enthusiastically.
"Good morning, Sally," Sienna replied as she walked toward her office. "Your new hairstyle looks gorgeous."
Sally instinctively touched her hair and smiled shyly. "Thank you. I’ve been thinking about changing it for a while."
"It suits you."
The compliment made Sally smile even wider, but she quickly returned to her professional demeanor as they continued walking together.
"Oh, right," Sally said, opening the folder she had been carrying. "Quite a few files are waiting for your review. I have already separated the urgent ones and placed them on your desk. The rest can wait until this afternoon or tomorrow."
Sienna nodded with understanding.
"I expected as much."
She had been away for an entire week. It would have been stranger if there hadn’t been a mountain of work waiting for her.
"Did anything major happen while I was gone?" she asked.
"Nothing serious," Sally answered. "Everything went smoothly. The department managers handled most of the daily operations, but there are still several reports that require your approval."
"Perfect. Let’s get started."
When they reached her office, Sally placed the folders neatly on her desk before giving her a brief summary of the day’s schedule.
"If you need anything, just let me know."
"I will."
After Sally left, Sienna settled into her chair and took a slow breath.
It felt good to be back.
The familiar office, the neatly organized desk, and even the stack of paperwork somehow felt comforting.
Without wasting any more time, she opened the first file and began reading.
One report led to another.
Soon she was reviewing budgets, approving purchase requests, responding to emails, and making notes for upcoming meetings.
She became so absorbed in her work that she completely lost track of time.
A gentle knock on the door finally pulled her back to reality.
"Come in."
The door opened, and Sally stepped inside.
"Excuse me, Sienna..."
Sienna looked up from the file she had been reviewing.
Although Sally was trying to remain composed, there was a hint of uneasiness on her face. Sienna immediately noticed it.
"What’s wrong, Sally?" She asked. Set the file aside and gave her assistant her full attention.
"You need to go upstairs."
"Upstairs?"
Sienna frowned slightly.
"Is there an emergency meeting?"
Sally shook her head.
"I’m not sure. The CEO’s secretary just called me and asked you to come to the fifteenth floor immediately."
Sienna’s fingers unconsciously tightened around the pen she was holding.
"The CEO wants to see me?"
