“Alina?” he called in a small voice.
No response.
Alina remained sitting with eyes staring blankly.
Junior glanced back. Clarissa stood at the door with a cold encouraging smile
“Come on, sweetie,” Clarissa whispered. “Say what you feel.”
Junior swallowed. He looked at Alina again.
And suddenly, all of Clarissa’s words over the past few weeks flooded his mind.
“Alina caused your accident.”
“Alina doesn’t love you.”
“Alina only wants her own child.”
“Alina wants to replace you with a new baby.”
Anger began to ignite in Junior’s chest. Replacing the discomfort.
“Alina, I hate you!” Junior suddenly screamed in a loud voice that startled Mrs. Helen outside. “I don’t want you to have a baby!”
Alina blinked slowly. Her head moved slightly turning toward the sound.
But her eyes were still empty. Not focused.
“I DON’T WANT A SIBLING FROM YOU!” Junior continued in an increasingly loud voice. Tears began to fall down his cheeks but his voice was full of anger. “YOU’RE EVIL! YOU’RE AN EVIL WOMAN! YOU’RE THE ONE WHO CAUSED MY ACCIDENT!”
Alina looked at Junior with eyes that slowly began to focus.

Her lips trembled. Tears began to fall slowly down her cheeks.
“Junior…” she whispered in a hoarse voice almost inaudible.
“DON’T CALL MY NAME!” Junior screamed. “I HATE YOU! I HATE YOU, ALINA! I HOPE YOU LEAVE THIS HOUSE!
I HOPE YOU AND THAT DAMN BABY LEAVE FOREVER!”
Alina closed her eyes tightly. Her body began to tremble.
Tears flowed more heavily.
But she didn’t make a sound. Didn’t scream. Didn’t defend herself.
Just sat in the chair with her trembling body and tears that wouldn’t stop.
Junior still stood there with heavy breathing. His hands clenched tightly at his sides.
“I…” Junior’s voice suddenly changed. No longer full of anger but… confused. “I…”
He looked at Alina crying silently with her trembling body.
And for a moment there was something that trembled in his chest.
Something familiar but he couldn’t understand.
But before he could process that feeling, Clarissa quickly entered and took his hand.
“That’s enough, sweetie. You’ve said what you feel. Now let’s go. Mama wants you to rest.”
Junior let Clarissa lead him out.
But his eyes kept looking at Alina who still sat with her trembling body and tears that wouldn’t stop.
The door closed with a soft click.
Leaving Alina alone in the darkness.
With Junior’s words echoing in her head like a curse.
Alina bent forward with her hands hugging her body.
And finally-after days of silence-she cried with a broken voice that was heart-wrenching.
Alina cried for the loss of the only hope she had. She mourned for Junior who used to hug her lovingly but now looked at her with hatred. Alina cried for herself who no longer knew how to survive.
Mrs. Helen ran in with tears streaming down her cheeks. Her heart ached hearing Alina’s broken crying inside the
room.
However, she couldn’t do anything to stop it. Mrs. Helen could only hold her tightly. Hoping the embrace could slightly ease the pain in her heart.

Daniel entered the mansion with heavy steps after spending the entire day dealing with out-of-town clients.
His body was exhausted. His mind was full of strategies for handling Adrian Lawson and the petition that might soon be filed.
But as soon as he passed through the foyer, Mr. Harris approached with a tense expression.
“Mr. Daniel, there’s something I need to report.”
Daniel stopped. He looked at the head of security with sharp eyes.
“What?”
Mr. Harris took a deep breath. “This afternoon, young Master Junior went into Mrs. Alina’s room.”
Daniel frowned. “I already said no one is allowed to enter Alina’s room without my permission.”
“I know, Sir. But Mrs. Sterling brought young Master Junior and said he wanted to see Mrs. Alina briefly. Mrs. Helen thought it would be good for Madam because she misses young Master so much. So we allowed it.”
Daniel felt anger beginning to boil. “And what happened?”
Mr. Harris looked increasingly uncomfortable. “Young Master Junior… he yelled at Mrs. Alina. Said he hated her. Young Junior also said he didn’t want Madam to have a baby. His words were very harsh, Sir.”
“What?!”
Daniel felt the blood drain from his face. Anxiety immediately appeared.
Daniel was worried about Alina’s condition. He knew Alina loved Junior very much and his words must have hurt Alina deeply.
“How is Alina now?”
“She’s calmed down a bit. Mrs. Helen is accompanying Mrs. Alina, after young Master and Mrs. Sterling left. She found her crying hard, Sir.”
“Damn it!”
Daniel clenched his hands at his sides until his knuckles turned white.
“Where is Junior now?”
“In his room, Sir. He’s probably asleep.”
Daniel turned and walked quickly toward the stairs. His steps were heavy and full of anger.
Mr. Harris followed from behind with careful steps.
Daniel opened Junior’s bedroom door with a harsh motion.
The night light glowed dimly. Junior was sleeping soundly in his bed, hugging a teddy bear.
Daniel walked closer and shook Junior’s shoulder roughly.
“WAKE UP!”

Junior jerked awake. His eyes opened with confusion and fear.
“Pa-Papa?” his voice was small and frightened seeing Daniel’s expression full of anger.
“WHAT DID YOU DO TO ALINA?!” Daniel shouted in a loud voice that made Junior cry spontaneously.
“I-I didn’t-”
“MR. HARRIS SAID YOU YELLED AT HER! SAID YOU HATED HER! AND SAID YOU DIDN’T WANT HER TO HAVE A BABY! IS THAT TRUE?!”
Junior cried harder. His body trembled with fear.
“I-I just said I didn’t like her, Papa! I—”
SLAP!
Daniel’s hand flew out, slapping Junior’s cheek.
Not too hard-but enough to make the child’s head turn to the side and his cheek redden.
Junior fell silent for a moment with wide, shocked eyes.
Then cried with a heart-breaking voice.
“PAPA!” he cried while holding his burning cheek. “IT HURTS!”
“YOU MUST NOT MAKE ALINA SAD!” Daniel shouted again with a trembling voice of anger. “SHE’S YOUR SIBLING’S MOTHER! SHE’S MY WIFE! YOU MUST NOT SAY YOU HATE HER!”
Junior was crying hysterically now. His body shook violently.
“FORGIVE ME, PAPA! FORGIVE ME!” he cried while backing into the corner of the bed with clear fear in his eyes.
“WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO JUNIOR?!”
Clarissa’s loud voice made Daniel turn around.
Clarissa stood at the door with wide, horrified eyes. She had heard Junior’s crying from her room and ran here..
Clarissa immediately ran in and hugged Junior protectively.
“DANIEL! WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO OUR CHILD?!” she screamed while checking Junior’s reddened cheek.
“He made Alina cry! Said rude and disrespectful things,” Daniel answered, his voice still full of anger. “I’m just teaching a rude child a lesson.”
Clarissa hugged Junior tighter. Her eyes blazed with anger as she looked at Daniel.
“He’s just a CHILD! He’s six years old, Daniel! He’s confused and scared! You can’t hit him like this!”
“He needs to learn not to hurt Alina-”
“HE’S A CHILD!” Clarissa interrupted loudly. “He doesn’t understand what he’s saying! He’s just expressing his feelings!”
Daniel looked at Clarissa with suspicious eyes.
“You’re the one who taught him to hate Alina, aren’t you? You’re the one who poisoned his mind!”

Clarissa stared back with blazing eyes.
“ME?! I didn’t teach him anything! Junior said himself at his lesson that the other children bullied him because of Alina!”
Daniel frowned. “What do you mean?”
Clarissa took a deep, dramatic breath. Her eyes welled with tears.
“At the painting lesson earlier, the other children told Junior that Alina is just a stepmother. Said she’s not important. Said his real mother is me. Junior became ashamed and angry! He was confused why other people said that!”
Clarissa stroked Junior’s hair as he continued to sob in her embrace.
“Junior just needs protection from us, Daniel! Needs an explanation! But you, his father, hit him instead!”
Daniel fell silent. He looked at Junior crying fearfully with his cheek still red.
Guilt began to creep into his chest.
Was he too harsh?
Did he overreact?
But he still remembered Mr. Harris’s report-Junior had said very cruel words to Alina. Made the woman cry hard.
“Junior needs to learn how to behave. Especially toward his elders.”
“He’s just a CHILD!” Clarissa repeated with a trembling voice. “He shouldn’t learn through violence! You’re so obsessed with Alina that you’ve forgotten your own biological son!”
Daniel felt anger flare again.
“Don’t tell me I’ve forgotten Junior. I’m just disciplining him.”
“He’s unstable, Daniel. Have you FORGOTTEN!” Clarissa said while standing with Junior still tightly embraced.” Junior lost his mother for years. Traumatized by losing his memory. And now his Papa is also choosing another woman over him!”
“I’m not choosing anyone, Clarissa. Don’t dramatize.”
“BUT YOU JUST HIT HIM BECAUSE OF ALINA!” Clarissa screamed with tears flowing. “You care more about Alina’s feelings than your own son who’s confused and scared!”
Daniel looked at Clarissa. Then looked at Junior crying in her embrace with a red cheek and eyes full of fear.
The guilt pressed on his chest, growing heavier.
But at the same time, there was anger that kept burning-difficult to extinguish.
He was angry because Alina was hurt.
Angry because Junior made Alina cry.
Angry at Clarissa, whom he secretly believed was involved in all this.
And most painfully… he was also angry at himself. For losing control. For hitting his own child.
