The Billionaire's Silent Wife (Ryan and Eve) novel Chapter 191

Chapter 191 Our Ever After

The first pain didn’t announce itself like a dramatic moment.

It came like a quiet betrayal.

Eve was standing at the kitchen counter, one hand resting on the curve of her belly while she watched

Marlene set out tea the way she always did, careful, neat, gentle, when Eve felt a sudden warmth that was

not nausea, not sweat, not fear.

For a second, she just froze.

Because her body had been through too many surprises lately for her to trust anything that felt unfamiliar.

Then the warmth spread, downward, undeniable, and Eve’s breath caught.

Marlene looked up. “Madam?”

Eve’s fingers tightened around the edge of the counter. “I think… I think my water just broke.”

Marlene’s face changed instantly, shock, excitement, alarm, all colliding at once. “Oh my God. Oh my God!”

Eve’s heart slammed. “Marlene,”

“I’m calling Mr. Ryan,” Marlene said, already reaching for her phone with trembling hands. “Stay there. Don’t

move. Sit. Sit, madam, please,”

Eve tried to laugh, but it came out shaky. “I’m not going to explode if I stand.”

Marlene’s eyes were wide. “Twins, madam!”

Eve swallowed hard. The word twins still didn’t feel real, even after months of scans, doctors, preparations, and Ryan’s quiet nightly habit of pressing his hand to her belly as if he still couldn’t believe they were inside her.

Eve lowered herself onto a chair slowly, breathing carefully. Another sensation followed, tightness, a dull

cramp that made her stomach harden.

Eve’s eyes widened.

“Oh,” she whispered.

Marlene’s phone was to her ear now, voice rapid. “Sir! Sir, it’s time. Madam’s water broke. Yes, now, now.

Please come home,” .

Eve exhaled slowly, forcing herself not to panic.

She wasn’t alone.

She wasn’t locked in the Ashbrook mansion anymore, swallowing pain in silence.

She was in her home.

Her real home.

With people who would run toward her fear, not away from it.

Marlene ended the call and turned, hands shaking. “He’s coming.”

Eve nodded, swallowing. “Okay.”

Marlene hovered like she wanted to hold Eve’s face, but didn’t want to overwhelm her. “Are you in pain?”

Eve’s breath hitched. Another tightening gripped her, stronger than the first, a band of pressure pulling

across her lower belly.

“Yes,” Eve admitted, voice thin.

Marlene clapped a hand over her mouth. “Oh, okay. Okay. Breathe, madam. Just breathe.”

Eve’s lips parted. “You’re the one who needs to breathe.”

Marlene let out a shaky laugh that sounded like tears in disguise. “I’m fine.”

Eve looked at her, one brow lifting. “Marlene.”

Marlene exhaled, then forced herself into movement. “I’ll get your bag. It’s packed, right? It should be

packed, ”

“It is,” Eve said, voice steadier now. “Ryan packed it twice.”

Marlene nodded rapidly. “Of course he did.”

Eve’s eyes drifted to the hallway leading to the front door.

Ryan would come in like a storm.

But this time, it wouldn’t be a storm that destroyed.

It would be a storm that carried.

The front door opened with controlled force.

Footsteps.

Fast.

Ryan’s voice hit the house before he did. “Eve!”

Eve’s throat tightened at the sound.

Ryan appeared in the doorway, hair slightly dishevelled, tie loosened, eyes sharp and wide in a way she didn’t often see. He looked… frightened.

He crossed the room quickly, stopping in front of her like he had to confirm she was real.

“Eve,” he said again, voice lower, urgent. “Are you okay.”

Eve tried to smile. “Define okay.”

Ryan’s mouth tightened. He crouched in front of her, hands hovering near her knees. “Pain.”

Eve swallowed. “It started.”

Ryan’s eyes darkened. He glanced down at her belly, then back up. “How bad.”

Eve inhaled slowly. “Not unbearable.”

Ryan’s jaw flexed like he didn’t like that answer. “When did your water break.”

“Five minutes before Marlene called you,” Eve said.

Ryan exhaled sharply. “Okay.”

Marlene returned with the hospital bag, breathless. “Everything’s here.”

Ryan stood instantly, taking the bag from her without thinking. “Thank you.”

Marlene nodded, eyes bright. “I’ll lock up after you leave.”

Ryan’s gaze snapped to her. “No. You’re coming.”.

Marlene blinked. “Sir, ”

Ryan’s voice was firm, not unkind. “You’re coming. Eve will want you.”

Eve’s throat tightened again, gratitude rising like something painful. She looked at Marlene. “Come.”

Marlene’s lips trembled. “Yes, madam.”

Another contraction hit, stronger.

Eve’s breath caught, fingers gripping the chair.

Ryan’s body snapped into immediate alertness. “Now?”

Eve nodded, eyes shutting briefly. “Yes.”

Ryan moved closer instantly, one hand hovering near her waist, the other near her shoulder, as if he didn’t

know where to place himself without getting in the way.

“Breathe,” he said, voice low.

Eve let out a shaky laugh. “You’re copying me now.”

Ryan’s eyes stayed fixed on her face. “I’m doing what works.”

Eve’s breath shuddered as the contraction eased.

Then she looked at him, voice softening. “Ryan… it’s time.”

Ryan swallowed hard. “I know.”
