The Billionaire's Silent Wife (Ryan and Eve) novel Chapter 192

Chapter 192 Our Ever After 2

There was no driver. No security convoy. Just Ryan in a rush, Marlene in the back, and Eve in the

passenger seat, gripping the door handle when the next contraction rolled through.

Ryan drove fast, but controlled, hands tight, eyes scanning traffic like the whole city was an obstacle between him and safety.

Eve’s breathing grew more focused as the pains came closer together.

Marlene sat behind her, whispering encouragement. “You’re doing so well, madam.”

Eve tried to respond with humour, but another contraction stole the words.

Ryan’s voice came tight. “Tell me if it’s too much.”

Eve exhaled. “It’s not too much. It’s just… intense.”

Ryan’s jaw flexed. “I hate that you’re in pain.”

Eve glanced at him. “I’m making humans, Ryan.”.

Ryan’s eyes flicked to her, panic and awe mixing. “Two.”

Eve nodded, breath trembling. “Two.”

When they arrived at the hospital, everything moved quickly, wheelchair, nurses, questions, monitors.

Ryan stayed beside Eve like a shadow that refused to detach.

“Name?” a nurse asked.

“Eve Ashbrook,” Ryan answered immediately.

Eve’s eyes narrowed slightly. “Evelyn.”

Ryan blinked, then corrected himself instantly. “Evelyn Ashbrook.”

Eve’s throat tightened at the effort in his voice, his attempt to honour her new identity even in panic.

The nurse nodded briskly. “Twins, yes? Okay. We’re taking you in.”

Eve gripped Ryan’s hand as they wheeled her down the corridor.

Ryan leaned close, voice low. “I’m here.”

Eve swallowed. “I know.”

In the labour room, time stopped making sense.

Hours blurred into breath and pressure and the constant rise and fall of pain that demanded everything

Eve had.

Ryan stayed near her head, holding her hand, wiping sweat off her temple with trembling care.

He didn’t bombard her with empty reassurance.

He gave her presence.

He gave her steady.

When Eve cried out, he didn’t flinch.

When she shook, he anchored her.

When she looked like she might break, he leaned closer and said, “You’re not alone.”

And Eve believed him, because this time, it wasn’t a promise made in softness.

It was a vow held through pain.

When the doctor finally said, “It’s time,” Eve’s whole body went rigid with fear and determination.

Ryan’s grip tightened. “You can do this.”

Eve’s breath hitched. “Stop saying that like it’s motivational.”

Ryan’s mouth twitched, the smallest smile. “It’s factual.”

Eve laughed weakly, then cried out again as her body demanded everything.

“Push,” the doctor instructed.

Eve pushed.

Her world narrowed to the pressure, the burning, the desperate need to get through the next second.

Ryan’s voice stayed in her ear. “Breathe. I’m here. I’m here.”

Eve pushed again.

Then, finally,

A cry filled the room.

A baby’s cry.

Sharp, loud, alive.

Eve’s breath broke into a sob.

Ryan made a sound Eve had never heard from him before, something between a laugh and a gasp.

The nurse lifted the baby briefly. “It’s a girl.”

Eve’s tears poured. “Oh,”

Glam

Ryan’s eyes glistened, and this time he didn’t hide it. He stared like he couldn’t understand how anything so small could feel like salvation.

Then the doctor’s voice came again. “Alright, second one. Let’s go.”

Eve’s breath hitched. “Again?”

Ryan squeezed her hand. “Again.”

Eve pushed through another wave of pain, fear tightening, then releasing, then tightening again.

And then another cry.

Another life.

Another proof.

The nurse smiled. “It’s a boy.”

Eve’s sob turned into laughter.

Clar

Ryan covered his mouth with his free hand, eyes bright, shoulders shaking slightly like he was trying not to fall apart.

The babies were cleaned and brought closer.

Eve saw them properly then, two small faces, wrinkled and perfect, tiny fists, mouths opening and closing like they were already demanding the world.

Her chest hurt with love so sudden it felt like pain.

“We named them,” Eve whispered, voice raw.

Ryan nodded quickly, voice thick. “Nicole and Phelix.”

Eve’s eyes squeezed shut, overwhelmed. “Yes.”

Ryan leaned down and kissed her forehead carefully. “Hi,” he whispered to the babies like the word

mattered. “I’m your father.”

Eve watched him, heart full, because Ryan Ashbrook had been raised to love like control, and yet here he was, looking like he’d been undone by two tiny cries.

Hours later, after they were moved to recovery, Eve lay in bed with both babies nearby, exhausted but glowing in a way she didn’t recognise in herself.

Ryan sat beside her, still in hospital scrubs, staring at the twins like he expected them to vanish if he

blinked too long.

Marlene hovered at the back of the room, tears in her eyes, hands clasped tightly.

Then the door opened.

Kimberly stepped in.

She looked different than she used to, less polished, less arrogant, more human. Her eyes were bright with emotion, and when she saw Eve holding the babies, her face crumpled into a smile that was half tears.

“Oh my God,” Kimberly whispered.

Eve looked up, surprised. “Kimberly.”

Kimberly stepped closer, hands trembling slightly as if she didn’t know where to put them. “They’re…

they’re perfect.”

Ryan’s mouth twitched. “They are.”

Kimberly’s eyes flicked to Ryan, then to Eve, then to the babies again. “Can I, can I see them closer.”

Eve nodded gently. “Yes.”

Kimberly approached the bedside slowly, as if afraid she might disturb something holy. She leaned in,

staring at the twins with awe.

“A boy and a girl,” she whispered.

Eve’s lips curved faintly. “Yes.”

Kimberly’s eyes filled again. “Eve…”

Eve watched her carefully, because Kimberly had once looked at her like she was dirt on expensive carpet.

Now she looked like she wanted to be worthy of being in the room.

Ryan cleared his throat softly. “You know,” he said, voice mild, “there was a time you said you could never

like Eve.”

Kimberly’s head snapped up, horrified. “Ryan!”

Ryan’s mouth twitched with real amusement now. “I remember.”

Kimberly’s cheeks flushed. She glanced at Eve quickly, embarrassed. “I,” she swallowed hard, voice shaking, “I was childish.”

Eve didn’t speak.

Kimberly pressed on, needing to say it. “I let Mum get in my head. I let her convince me you were… the enemy.”

Eve’s throat tightened.

Kimberly’s eyes glistened. “And I’m sorry. Truly.”

Eve watched her for a long beat, then said quietly, “Thank you.”

Kimberly nodded quickly, wiping at her face. “I’m grateful you forgave me,” she whispered. “I don’t deserve

it.”

Eve’s voice stayed soft. “People change when they see truth.”

Kimberly swallowed hard. “I’m not friends with Luan anymore.”

Ryan’s brows lifted slightly.

Kimberly’s jaw tightened. “I should’ve never been. She enjoyed the way Mum used her. She enjoyed

humiliating you.”

Eve’s chest tightened at the memory, but she didn’t let it rise fully.

Kimberly looked at Eve, voice firm now. “I promise you something.”

Eve’s eyes narrowed slightly. “What.”

Kimberly swallowed, then said, “I will protect your interests where Ryan is concerned.”

Ryan blinked. “Excuse me?”

Kimberly shot him a look through tears. “Don’t act like you don’t know what our family is capable of.”

Ryan went quiet.

Kimberly turned back to Eve, voice steadier. “I’ll help you through everything. Motherhood. The company world. The parts Ryan doesn’t see because he’s stubborn and thinks he can carry everything alone.”

Ryan’s mouth tightened. “I can.”

Kimberly sniffed. “No, you can’t.”

Eve let out a small laugh that felt like release.

Then the door opened again.
